hey what would cause my car to hesitate when starting...i mean it turns over and starts but sometimes it turns over several times before starting...i changed my distributor cap and rotor...checked my plugs....could it be my ignition coil????

fuel fuel fuel

spray some carb cleaner while someone is trying to start that beast and see if it fires right up. if it does.... fuel pump time (unless a restricition is found in the fuel system) ie: fuel filter, kink in line, something random.

You can also simply cycle the key a couple times (let the pump prime, turn the key off, and repeat a couple times). Then crank it over for the first time. If it starts right up, it's likely a fuel issue (above-mentioned restriction, weak pump check-valve, FPR, etc).

Good luck.

Do you have underdrives? I have underdrives and have noticed this since I installed them. Although the car does not get run that much, so the down time between starts may explain it.

Do as HISSIN50 said, easiest test for the fuel system....

other possible problems could be:

faulty coil
faulty profile ignition pick up
faulty fuel system components besides the filter (i.e obstructions or kinks in the line)

Also, if you have equal length headers, they are pretty close to your starter, and after a while, too much heat can wear out the factory unit.
