Another street racing crash

It's terrible to hear about something like this, and to this degree. Yes, I have street raced before, about a dozen times. But then I realized that it's definitely not worth it, the negatives greatly outnumber the positives, and the last time I street raced was almost a year ago. And also, you think about it and say, what was it all for? To say you beat some guy and can show that you're faster than them while risking your life and the lives of others? Plus, if you're caught you could go to jail, have your car impounded for a month or more, and pay well over $1,000 in fines. Not worth it. There were plans to build a full racing facility right here in my town with a drag strip, multiple road courses, and a 1/2 mile oval track. The build was about to start, but now the organization is out of money and has to shut down. Guess I'll take that 2.5 hour drive to then nearest strip.

Good ol doty road, 130th in front of rosebud, south chicago by public storage, ah the good ol days but now got a CDL so street racin is out. We've all done it some still do it You just got to know your limitations. Plus up here we have street car chaos and you can make alot of $$$ there and still be legal ...:nice:

Roger that, LS! My CDL that feeds the family, old age, common sense, don't know what it was, maybe having Route 66 40 minutes away, with participant friendly schedule. Whatever, glad to have it. If you have a 5.0, and say you never- never-got on it on the street, well, hope you're not in sales, cause nobody's buying. You'd never have bought it in the first place.

Yep, your 100% correct because you've never street raced right? Never even cracked the throttle on the street either huh? Gotta love all you people that say this crap cause your all full of it unless you have a track really close.

Raced? Nope.

Sorry, but your assumption is wrong. Not everybody with a "fast" car street races....and just because others do it, doesn't make it "ok".

"a white Ford Crown Victoria unexpectedly came up from behind and smashed into them."

"About 50 people were watching the race, Gaines said, and she saw the Crown Victoria approach without its lights on."

"Police could not confirm whether the car that struck the crowd had its lights on"

who the hell drives down a two lane road in the middle of the night, creeping up on a group of street racers, without their headlights on, in a white crown vic...? sounds fishy to me...

The guy in the Crown Vic was only driving down the highway. It's called Old Indian Head Highway. Imagine... Hmm... Some fog up ahead. You drive into the fog just like anybody would and there's 50 people standing in the middle of the road. What are you going to do? Are there any conspiracy theories about the tractor trailer that also ran over a body just seconds after the accident? I lived in that general area for a long time and I know how witnesses can change their stories to match what they would like to see. Everyone there, and I do mean everyone, should be charged with vehicular manslaughter. What was a 13 year old girl doing out in the middle of the highway at 3:30 in the morning? With her mother and grandfather! Now that's parental responsibility. If there hadn't been a crown of people there to watch this "race" this would never have happened.

Did I ever say it was legal and the right thing to do? Nope, just saying all you guys that say that you've NEVER street raced or anything of the sort are full of crap. If it was someone with a bone stocker thats one thing, maybe just wants to enjoy the car. 99.9% of the population with a car like a mustang thats been worked has street raced. How can you argue that?? MAYBE not you somehow but everyone else has.

Exactly having a huge group is the worst idea ever.
