Another TCS question

Today it was raining when I got off work(yes I work Sundays). Had the TCS on and came out of the parking lot kinda hard. I had the left rear tire spin then it stopped and the right tire broke traction. The car never got sideways or squirley at all. Should I have turned the TCS off for wet pavement or was it my driving habits that were wrong.

The TCS will brake the wheel that breaks traction and cut the power to the wheels so you don't get into an oversteer tail wagging the dog situation. The Mustang TCS is actually not that intrusive so will allow you to get a little out of shape with it on and thuis allow you to have a bit of fun but will still give you a safety net. You should leave it on in the wet.

Basically it looks like your left wheel was braked to restore traction and the right wheel then broke traction. It may be thanks to the TCS that you didn't spin it.

Went through a damn monsoon on the way home tonight. I have a full understanding of the beauty of the TCS. Because of the ruts cut in the pavement by big trucks, people were hydroplaneing all over the place. You could feel when the system was transfering power between the rear wheel holding the car straight.
I have said I will never own a car without power door locks, power windows, remote, now I am gonna add the sattalite radio and TCS to the list.

Agreed. There have been two instances where I got it sideways on wet pavement (overloaded the TCS's ability to compensate, I guess). But there have been several where I could feel it compensating for the wet conditions we get here so often. I think they got it just right, enough to keep you out of trouble, but not too much to keep you from having a bit of fun.

i dont understand how you think you have a problem? definitely have your tcs on in the rain if your not good at a car being squirrely which by your post im definitely thinking thats the case. what probably happened is you were coming out of the parking lot and you were experiencing the traction lock at work. one wheel broke loose the tcs applied braking at that wheel then the 2nd one broke loose and the tcs stopped that one. how you even were able to tell which wheel was spinning is beyond me.

You can feel the tire that is loosing traction just from being familiar with the car. My suggestion to you is to go find a dealership that does not run your credit for a test drive and actually drive one. Then you will see what I am talking about. If you had actually ever owned a Gt Mustang with TCS you would never have even questioned this post. I usually hear both back tires spinning when I have the TCS turned off and I want them to spin. If one is not making that sound I can tell my right from my left, and you can feel it in the handling of the car.

If one is not making that sound I can tell my right from my left, and you can feel it in the handling of the car.

i work at a dealer and drive mustang gts all the time. the primary reasons u may think ur differentiating is cause the abs is locking up one spinning tire and then the next one guys etc. RELAX, you also are the guy who asked what tcs was. i guess your an expert now lol oh well. im sorry if i offended you

You didnt offend me. It just seems like sometimes in here there are people that post answers and come to find out they dont even own a Mustang nor have even driven one. Youre right, when I started this post, I had just bought my new ride and didnt have a clue about the new technology I was dealing with. I was like the guy who learned to fly an ultralite and was handed the keys to an F18. But I am learning, thanks to you guys. And yea I need to lighten up, just seems like this bright red car has put a target on my back.
My apoligies, I didnt know you had the background you have, I owe you lunch and a beer. Got a feeling you would enjoy that as much as I would.

no problem at all. my whole existence on a site like this is to learn from other people and share what i know. i love mustangs to death its my obsession namely the new car and 5.0s. i can be a smartass at times because i work in a dealer all day, believe me itll do that to you. i grew such a thick skin on account of that. i must say this site specifically is the best there is in terms of people not flaming each other and i love that. you wanna see flamin, go check out an ls1 board. did you guys hear the ls1 engine jus cured cancer, ran a 2 second quarter mile and solved the problems iraq?
