Alright I've been doing some searching around on the forums and I've dug up most of the information that I think I'll need, but I wanted to get some for sure clarification on some stuff.
The scenario:
I have an 86 foxbody 5.0 with a 5 speed. I recently purchased an 88 full sized Bronco for $200. It has a 351 and a c6.
I would like to do an engine swap between the two. I know that I'll need to get a proper flywheel for the 351 to mate with my T5, and vice-versa to mate the 5.0 to the c6 in the Bronco.
So on to the questions. The bronco's fuel injection is SD, and I'm pretty sure it runs 19 pounders but I'm not 100% sure. Does anybody know what these came with stock? If it is 19's is there any reason I couldn't use the Bronco's computer with the 5.0? I do have a SD mustang computer somewhere. However that raises another question... Is the bronco batch fire injection or sequential like the mustangs are? If it is batch fire, could you plug up a sequential SD mustang computer... would it require jumping pins?
For putting the 351 in the fox... It is currently MAF using the ford piggyback harness. I'm pretty sure this should just be plug and play with the 351 assuming the injector size is the same.
I've also caught wind that my 351 is not a roller motor. If this is true.. is it really a big deal? I plan on putting a pair of turbos on the motor but I don't forsee boost ever exceeding 11psi.
If I should convert the 351 over to roller, what exactly do I need to do. I've read some on the subject but for some reason the explinations I've read of what is necessary didn't click with me. If someone has some time to elaborate I would greatly appreciate it.
And my final question is about getting the 351 to fit under a stock hood. I have a little bit of cushion with the hood as it has a scoop ontop and I don't have a problem cutting holes out of the hood underneath that scoop. I know I can get solid drop motor mounts that are supposed to bring the engine down 3/4 of an inch. How much taller does the upper intake sit compared to the 302? _For the time being_ i'm going to use the stock truck 351w lower with the mustang 302 upper. I know it's a piss-poor match, but for the first stage I want to focus on things working and fitting properly, then I can go through and have her performing properly.
Thanks guys for reading the novel if you got this far
