It appears you can order it online still with the options the email above says you can't.

Thanks, but when you finish that process, it goes to a dealer submit, and they pick up the process. That's actually what started my failed journey.

Wow, that is incredibly frustrating! Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you find a dealer with you Baby Boss, even if it means a road trip.

I wonder why Ford is saying you can order it that way but then turns around and says that you can't. Werd.

Without 55D or 55R, there's really no reason to even continue building any GTs.

Not 100% sure. I never got an order confirmation, nor VIN, no build date.

Nearly 3 weeks after my order with the dealer I get an email listing off the 2013 order limitations:

Joe,
I wanted to let you know that we received some bad news from Ford in relation to the order you put in with us on the 2013 Mustang GT. We were told by our Ford representitive today that the factory can not complete the order you had requested for the 2013 model year. I do not have the exact reason on why but I just know that the factory kicked the order. The factory will build a different Mustang for you but I doubt it will have the requested equipment you wanted available. I have supplied a list below of how Ford is finishing their production on the 2013 Mustang. This is a list of what can and can't be added.
***IMPORTANT: Orders MUST follow the equipment guidelines listed below!***

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
·MUST BE a V8 with a Manual Transmission (P8C with 44X)
·MUST BE Equipment Group 400A or 401A
·MUST be equipped with the 3.31 Limited Rear Slip axle
·50% of the orders can have 19” Bright Machined Aluminum Wheel with Black Painted Windows (64X)
·50% of the orders can have 19” Premium Painted Luster Nickel Aluminum Wheels (64V)
OPTIONAL EQUIPTMENT:
·Can have Comfort Package (53B)
·Can have Electronics Package (58N)
·Can have Reverse Sensing (43S)
EQUIPMENT the Orders Can NOT Have:
·No California Special – Equipment Group 402A
·No Recaro Leather Sport Seats (88S)
·No Brembo Brake Package (55D)
·No GT’s (P8C) with Limited Slip axles (455 or 457or 458 included in 55R package)
·No GT Track Package (55R)
·No 18” Polished Alum Wheels (64M)
·No Red Candy Metallic Tinted Clearcoat Paint (RZ)
·No Performance White Paint (HP)
·No Rear Video Camera (77C)
·No Glass Roof (59G)
·No Shaker Pro Audio System (918)
·No Custom Accessories – Pre-Installed – Limited Production Options (941, 944, or 945)
·No Racing Stripes (47A)
·No Hood & Side Stripes (943)

OP: The reason that your order got kicked out for a 2013 is that they're almost at model changeover. They're about to start building 2014s, and as I understand it, the order banks are either open, or soon will be, for the 2014 MY (at least for the GT500s). GTs will change over at the same time. I'd guess from the limitations listed, they're probably not projected to have the parts available to fulfill those options. That's the bad news. The good news is, you should be able to order a 2014 exactly like you want it very soon, if not already.

If you can't wait, I'd suggest doing a much broader search yourself, rather than depending on your local dealer. That's how I bought my Shelby. I've been told you can do the same thing by Cars.com or Autotrader.com, but the way I did my search was to go to http://content.dealerconnection.com/vfs/brands/us_ford_en.html, then search dealer inventories. This site will not only show you what they dealer has in stock, but will also show you any inbound orders that have a VIN (meaning they're either already built and shipped, or within about a week of build date). You can search the entire country, although you have to do it one dealer at a time, so it takes a little while. You can also find some good deals if you're willing to work at it. Think about it, if you're in TX, you can get to most of the US and drive the car back for $1500 or less (one way ticket out, gas for the drive back). A lot of places you can save that $1500 in purchase price, particularly given the local dealer climate you described in another post.

Thats kinda wack that they rejected it rather than telling you they could build it in a 2014.

Dang, that was QUICK!

Beautiful car! Love black, as long as I don't have to keep it clean.

Gotta say, I like those wheels too! Enjoy!
