Any 2005 GT's for under 20,000??

I really would like a 05 gt but all the ones i can find are $22-24,000, has anyone seen any for under 20,000?? the cheapest one i have found is 21500?? so do i need to just stop looking for an 05 and just get a 04 Mach 1 or will one come around sometime??

when the 08 model year GTs hit the lots, the 05s value will drop slightly. with each new model year, the older years value will decrease.

I got 6,000 miles on my 2005 GT but also have the Saleen Supercharger and several other mods (motor, gear, suspension, body, wheels and tires, interior, etc) which will up the price greatly...

If I were to sell my car in its present state even with concerning the depreciation, it would sell for about $30,000...

A good 2005 GT with low miles will COST YOU BIG $$$ because of the mileage and mods...

I think that a car which is normally driven over a year or two that has 22,000 - 24,000 miles is about normal...

Mods generally reduce the price of a car, depending on what they are. The cheapest 05 I have found was about $25,000 for a coupe. My dealer had a new one next to it that was about $28,000 after rebates.
I think I'd rather have the new one.
I don't know what 2005s are still bringing in the mid 20s.

+1 on that...mods will not add a dime to the resale value of a car unless you find that one buyer out of a million looking for those specific mods. Rule of thumb, Mods are for people planning on keeping their cars not reselling them.

That's a great fact but --------

When trading a highly modded car into a dealership, the dealer won't give you cr*p for all those mods...

But when the dealer puts the same car out in his used car lot, he gets a ton of money because it has these all the mods on it...

I know -- I been car shopping in the past and made the comment to the dealer, that mods don't add to the price...

He laughed and said, "Get the hell off my lot. The price is what it is"!!!

Good Example: the Shelby 2007 GT500 is not worth $20,000 over MSRP...

I picked up an '05 with 16k miles, Rousch suspension and Saleen S/C for $25k. It was listed on this site at one point.

It took me months to find what I was looking for, but they are out there if you are willing to do a little give and take.

Prices are insane where I am. Dealers are still asking $24K - $25K for used 05 coupes. Private sales are rare. But the same used 05 Stangs seem to sit on the dealer lots a long, long time waiting for some sucker to come along.

These high priced used 05s don't have much for options either. Makes no sense, with the rebate I can buy a new 07 for only $2K more than a used 05. Plus interest rates are lower on new cars making a new financed 07 the same price as a used 05 with 10K - 20K miles on it.

my point exactly? I think not...sure the dealer will make some extra cash selling your car with all the mods but you won't see a dime of it.

Dear HeavyGT,

Yes, your right! As a seller, the dealer won't give you "jack" for all the mods that you previously put on your car...

BUT -- when that same dealer sells your car (with all your mods) to another buyer, he will want "top dollar" for the car...

I have had that experience several times in my life...

It depends on the mods. I have seen many mods that are not my taste. And I certainly would not give more for those. In many cases, an original car will bring more for that very reason.
For example, I would love to have an original 1990 Mustang. There are very few out there that have not been modded. I would actually pay more for an original model.
Some mods just don't appeal to everyone. And that translates into dollars.

There are deals out there though. You just have to be patient and look. About a month ago I went to refinance my 03 GT at the dealership. A salesman there said that he could get me in a newer 05 GT for the same that I paid for my 03, with less interest. Sure enough, he did. Although the mileage was a little high on the 05, 33,000mi. Drive out price was 21K. The asking price of the car was 19.5k. The only option it did not have was the shaker system. So good luck, and happy hunting.

Deals are definately out there. I just bought a 2005 GT with a procharger and exhaust for under 20k. You just have to look and be patient.

Was at my local Ford dealer yesterday.

They have the same used 05 GT MTX sitting on their lot since August last year!
They're asking $23,995 for it - looks like a GT premium with no other options, 10K miles.

I bet it'll still be sitting there the next time I stop by that dealer in 4 months since I can buy a new 2007 GT Premium (no options) for only $1,500 more (X plan & rebate).

Just checked the local auto swapper. A private sale 05 GT with 16K miles is listed @ $16,995 including 20" wheels. Only catch is it has a ZEX wet nitrous system on it. I wouldn't touch that one.

The dealers are out of their minds with used Mustang prices.

I just checked, X-plan pricing for a new 2007 GT Premium Coupe is $25,917.
And the $1,000 rebate has been renewed until July 2.
So I could buy a new 07 GT Premium for $24,917 (+Tax+title+reg).
That's less than $1K more than most dealers around me are trying to get for used 05s with similar equipment and 10K - 20K miles.

its like this with any newer car. if you spend any amount of time watching dealer lots (any brand), the used cars are priced right up there with the new cars. with manufacturer incentives, the new car price can drop. on used cars, there is no way to drop the price without losing money.

go look on a dodge lot. i am sure you will find a new durango priced the same as a used one with 10k miles on it. its always been this way, and its not just mustangs. many people have it in their head that they cant afford a new car, and never look at new car prices.

the entry level cars are the worst. i remember when they were still making neons. dealers had 2 year old ones on the lot for about 1,000 less than what the new car price was across the lot. the dealer makes you think you can get a good deal on used, becasue MSRP was X amount two years ago, even though with incentives, you gould get it for Y. its just the car dealership game.
