My friend come across a pair of 351W heads for sale $200, and asked me if they would be worth buying them. I didnt know so im asking on here. His motor is a 1995 302 carbed we put in his 4 banger, its all stock pretty much. What would be the power gain if any?

Stock late model 351W iron heads??? No, no real benefit. The only real difference between them are the diameter of the head bolts (1/2" vs. 7/16")....in which case you'll either have to redrill the block, or sleve the heads for them.

early pre-71 castings got slightly larger valves (1.84/1.54 vs. 1.78/1.46), but again nothing really to write home about. If you're going to change they heads, save your money and put a set of one of the more popular aluminum castings on your engine that'll really make a difference. No sense going through all that trouble for negligable horsepower gains.

yea i didnt figure there would be much of a difference, just wanted to make sure. The main reason he considered them was for the 1.7 TF roller rockers they have on em. I fig the rockers are worth the $200 he's askin for the combo. But then the heads would just be more boat anchors layin around the shop

I do believe they're the exact same e7's you already have. Worth $50 on a good day.

go with explorer 5.0 gt40s or gt40p's
