Any difference between an 84 short block and an 88?

I might be able to get a good deal on a rebuilt shortblock out of an 84 mustang. Is that still the same block as my 88? Roller cam, etc?
Thanks Stangnet.

Different block...slightly weaker. I do beleive it is a roller cam block though.

Yup,

We put an '85 GT short block into my friends '88 and made it EFI.

84 uses solid lifters, 85 was the first year for a roller cam

Dont pistons on 87+ have deeper fly cut pistons? Also, I thought forged pistons started in 87 or 88...?

86 was the only year for flat top pistons, and all pistons were forged through 1992. '93 started the hypereutectic pistons
