Any downside to buying a 90 gt?

I just sold my 95 and it is killing me not to have something to tinker with. Any problems I should look for such as computer issues are they as sensitive as the SN computers? Parts seem to be a little cheaper than the SN cars as well. Anything you can think of would be helpful.

i have a 91lx which has the same comp and everything and no they are great cars. respond extremely well to mods and will tear up a sn stock for stock as well.

The computer & emission systems are simpler and less of a problem. The only problems are those of more years wear & rust, both of which can be unseen and bite you in the rear.

Electrical problems are more common, sometimes it's the wear & tear of usage, other times it's things like stereo & alarm installations that were not done with excellence.

I dont think the fox is quite as refined for a daily-driver type car. As mentioned, the fox 'puters are more friendly (stock foxes dont need TwEECers. ).

The only downside from buying my GT is my wallet seems to be a lot lighter now. Maybe just a weird coincidence

Good Lord man don't give me any ideas. I was already thinking about that when I saw the car. So is the body stiffness/brakes just as good as on a SN car? The only thing I don't want to happen is to buy it then have to do more body work or suspension work to it before I can start to modify it.

Other than it being a GT ... no

I suggest an LX notch (coupe) model if you're looking for a fox ...
The weight savings alone is like a minor mod.

*87-88 speed density fi ... avoid w/o mass air conversion done (Cali cars Mass air)
*89 mass air, last year tilt steering/no air bag, later model year 25th ann
*90 25th anniv, 1st year no tilt/has airbag, last year smaller front wheelwells
*91 1st year larger wheelwells, last year black body moldings
*92 1st year body moldings match paint, last year forged pistons
*93 1st year hyper pistons, newest year to avoid time/age deterioration

Yeah you will enjoy the car, 1990 is a good year for a foxbody

The upside is that a fox will have less wires than his old SN95 had.

I do like your thinking though, except I think you meant 428 CJ with PI heads (one of many combos I would like).

Ouch, that's a hard hit.

Keep in mind the you are buying a 13 year or older car. 13 years is a long time for a machine the the factory didn't care if it made it past 3yr/36k. Otherwise, if you loved your 95 you absolutly go obsessed with a fox, I mean stalking it in the night and spying on it and all kinds of freaky things. The fox is much better as a hotrod, not designed for comfort, just for kicking ass.

I love my 90 GT...no car payments! But I think I'm spending more on it a month than I would a car payment....oh well.

Fox Bodies are nice

Well before I tore Mine to pieces i loved it.. Now well I have your car lol. That was one hell of a drive let me tell you. Well worth it though.
Id do it you know that its killing you right now not to have another car lol.

Don't get me wrong. Fox bodies rock, I prefer them but the above assumptions are way off. A Fox chassis is a lot less rigid and the brakes are not as good. Sorry, but thats an undisputable fact. Foxes are lighter, respond better to mods and are both cheaper & easier to work on....but, as stated by somebody else, less refined.
