those 30 people should be banished... as for the engine, not in the stars, no engine is in the stars anymore. not even a matter of conversation anymore. great to know that people that have only heard people tell stories that were not them and use those stories to help diminish a mans reputation when they have no personal experience what so ever. hmmmm help destroy a mans business through slander based on heresay, if it weren't the internet, I'd say that is a bad idea....
Well I'm convinced that you are either the guy from Indy Mustangs, a close friend, or a family member....and your intentions here were either to advertise or find out just how bad your rep in the industry has become.

BTW, if this guy's business is ruined then the only person responsible is the guy himself for being dishonest and not providing the product he promised.

If you are going to ask our opinion, then totally ignore it, then what's the flippin point? I'm with Ronstang, you are obviously biast to IndyMustang. Well good for you....but if all you are going to do is bash everyone about our opinions when you asked....then do us a favor and leave. This is a forum for open discussion, opinions, and help. Not Ask and then be an Ass. There are other people on this forum who need help...

I'm starting to agree with folks about you having some connection to Indy, otherwise, why did you even bother to ask for others' experiences? What if all of these had been personal experiences? What would you be complaining about then??? I'm sure you'd say "oh, they're all just exagerating and making stuff up".

BTW, what you have run into here is good old fashioned "word of mouth" advertisement. It's the best kind, if you haven't heard, and in this case, Indy obviously has a negative "word of mouth" reputation. The consistency of a number of separate individuals' accounts has generated this; and yes, there have been several different folks that have posted their personal experience with Indy over the years. The fact of the matter is that the only folks that helped "destroy a mans business" in this case is Indy themselves. They will have to work long and hard and be exceptional at all times to change this. Even if they do, I doubt I'll ever consider them. :notnice:

You know, I once knew a DJ at a local club. He would have a request list, but only play stuff that he wanted to. It was as if you had to request a song he already wanted to play...and if no one requested anything he would get even more pissed. I am not sure about this...once again I know nothing about indy mustang...but it sounds like you decided you wanted to go with them and wanted to be reassured with that decision. Kinda like the DJ guy, had to be reassured with what he wanted to play by having people request it.

Geez, Cheshire, you're complaining about other folks saying the same stuff in other forums... The post below is from http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=413010

I have seen a lot of bad posts on them, but 90% are saying their "friend" got screwed or they say their shop is messy. I have been going to the same mechanic for years, place looks like a junk yard on a good day, but he does the best work, just because someone is will to get dirty doesn't mean they aren't any good, so stop posting about that. You should look up pictures of Carrol Shelby's old workshop in the 60's, no floor showing, and he was a master, still is. I have heard many good things of them, I have also emailed everyone that has posted good things of them and called a few. Most of the bad posts are repeating, he has only 8-10 complains with the local BBB which for 5 years is not a bad rap. as for that SVT guy, first he was getting an engine for a friend and had never dealt with them, then he says that he has bought 2 engines from them after saying that indy is a rip off, he needs to get his story straight, he has some anger issues and he is taking them out on a shop he doesn't like. Only listen to people that have actually done business with them, not their friends or other shops. I have spent the last 7 hours reading up on them, read every good and bad post and I'm buying my engine from them tomorrow unless something unforseen happens. Most of the posts start, " even though I have no experience with them personally."

Dude, 8-10 complaints with the BBB in 5 years... not bad???? That is a freaking crap load! I regularly check with the BBB when I'm using a new business and lots of reputable businesses have absolutely no complaints with the BBB. Why are you attacking people because they try to help? And what happened today that it's "not in the stars" today but you were gonna buy from them yesterday? It couldn't be all the negative crap you've heard, could it? I've got to be honest, you sound like yet another complete flake on the internet. Oh well. :nonono:

Attention! cheshirecat saw fit to send me an email... seems one of my posts pissed him off. Poor cheshirecat. Well cheshirecat, you've officially pissed me off. You've seen fit to chastise others for sending you unsolicited emails rather than post in the forum, so I'm airing it here.

Howdy,

While I can appreciate that you're looking for responses from folks who've had personally experience with Indy Mustang, you must also realize that folks only wanted to help. Think about it this way:

Say you posted a message that said "anyone have any personal experience eating rat poison? I'm thinking of trying some since I found a guy that claims his rat poison will give me psychic abilities."

And so folks think "well, I've never eaten rat poison but I've heard from numerous people that have that it's dangerous and stupid, and that it won't give anybody psychic powers, which is a completely insane idea anyway." So they reply to your post with common ****ing sense replies, hoping to help your delusional ass avoid being taken and being made to suffer.

And instead of being appreciative of the feedback, you get defensive and then offensive and reply with "How dare you people, who've never eaten this guy's rat poison, reply! I only want to hear from people with personal rat eating experience."

So you get more replies that tell you "dude, we're just trying to help, but feel free to visit these other forums where you can read about others' actual personal experiences."

And you again reply stupidly with "It's a tragedy that you would tell me what I don't want to hear. And you're hurting this guy's business too. Shame on all of you!"

And then you're surprised when you get replies that say "dude, feel free to buy the guy's rat poison and get sick and suffer. You're an idiot and deserve it."

Now, if you can't understand that folks are trying to help you with your inquiry about Indy Mustang, sharing what information they have, gathered from word of mouth, then feel free to ignore it and go about your business. But don't get indignant and defensive and then get offensive. I've said it once, and I'll say it again: you sound like yet another flake that is symptomatic of the negative side of the internet. Stangnet was fine before you got there, it'll be fine when you leave.

Cheers.

It is funny. I had FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE with the company in question. I did not hear from a friend of a friend. I sent the guy an email and he comes back like a little 16 year old thug.

I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH THEM YOU FREAKIN IDIOT. Am I one of the 30 that should be banished?

I am just shocked at the tone of the email I recieved from our distinguished guest. I am not offended by language, but there was no call for that.

I think that this guy should be banned from SN. Just my 2 cents.

I pegged him as a shill from the very first post.

I agree with Jerry S and Ronstang. As DarkBuddha pointed out, cheshireccat defends Indy Mustang even when he supposedly don’t have any experience with them (and thus the post requesting info on them).

While this isn't quite a personal experience, I was involved with it.
Indy Mustang sponsored our team last year with a free engine for our 25 hour enduro car. It didn't show up when promised, oh well, free engine. It finally arrived and Joe, the crew chief, installed it, and got it ready. After having a few problems and not getting enough oil pressure, it came back out. check the oil pump and pickup etc., that's when the play in the crankshaft was noticed. A .010" crank with standard bearings.
