Well, I have no experience of the Summit stuff, but I bought some copper line of the correct diameter from a plumber's merchant and got a bout a mile of it for 5GBP (about $8). Cheap, easy to bend (straighten), all I needed to do was cut it to length, and solder an olive on each end to retain the hose.
Anything on a roll is going to be a bit of a PITA when you're under the car, but if you get it up high enough, you should be OK. If you've got no axle or propshaft on the car, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank with the cash you've saved...
You'll need a bender but if you use some cloths hangers you can use them to bend into what way you need and then bring them out and bend the line into that shape. I'm just going to buy the prebent. Its not that much more expesive and its no hassel install.
I've done 3/8 and 5/8 aluminum. Just straighten it first. Not hard at all. Just keep at it, and it'll come pretty close to perfectly straight. On the last fuel line, the 5/8 stuff, it took me all of maybe 5 mins to straighten it out.
Well here is where i luck out, i have a spare car that has the fuel line in it. So what i am gonna do is just pull that line out and then bend my new one without having to get under the car and do it.
I know new cars are running plastic fuel lines so maybe aluminum would be "OK" but if you use copper fittings it will corrode when water hits it. I tried the SS, 30' line from Summit, but it was very hard to bend 90 degrees and double flair. Maybe with the right heavy duty bending equipment it would work.
