or should i pony up and mix some 100 octane fuel in with each tank? im running fairly high compression and it just wont except standerd fuel. sometimes if i get good 93 from certain stations its okay but not fantastic.

ive heard good and bad in general about over the counter boosters. anyone have there own experience?

If you could poor that stuff into a full tank on 93 octane and make a full tank of 100 octane, do you think more people who race would be buying that stuff? I tried it once and couldnt tell any difference and will never put it back in my car again. I say try the 93 from the good stations, and like a gallon on 100 and see how it does, and if it isnt good enough try two gallons.

nope...the bottle stuff is crap. read the front of it. it says like "worth 8 octane points* " then on the bottom it says something like you need 10 octane "points" to move up one octane number so you would need like 10 bottles to get to 100 octane.

can i ask what car you want to put 100 octane in and what it has done to it cause moooost of the cars out there will lose performance with 100 octane, hell....93 octane is too much for lotsa cars

I'll say this about octane booster. I don't notice too much of a power increase but it does get rid of the pinging that my car has on a semi regular basis. I use NOS octane booster about once a month. I basically use it to keep the pinging away.

sunoco's around here have 94octane. if you have to have 100 try a local small airport they'll have it and it will be cheaper than a gas station you just cant fill up there you'll have to put in a can and then leave and then fill it up.

Did you try backing down the timing.... I run a 10.80:1 CR and it gets by fine on 93 octane. But I have aluminum heads and a fluidine radiatior. But even before the radiator, I didnt get any knock when the car would get hot (220+ deg.)...I run 10 deg. BTDC which is stock on our cars. WHat kinda timing are you running?

well, what if it says it will raise it 20 points?
and i think he might not have said anything, but he's running a carbed 351 clev. lol, seriously. it's all good, he's gonna be putting wonderfull mustang injection on it.

once again, my friend found the post.

yeah my point isnt at all to "make" more power. i know thats not what octane is. its just a number of detonation deterent. it was running okay before. i think the gas i got might not have been 93. Anyone know what BP Amaco's premium is? i havent been back yet to see.

anyways i would like to be able to run just 93, not even have to mix 100 with it. would colder plugs help? i think i may eventually take the heads off and polish the combustion chamber to get rid hot spots as well.

as far as radiator goes. all i have is the stupid ford gauge that says "normal" on it and it just hits the left side of the bracket which i believe is around 180-190. but not sure.

also on a side note, i will be putting late model fuel injection on it in a while which might also help but thats not yet.
