Any online instructions for tach install?

Bought a tach off a buddy but no instructions... where did you guys run the wires and did you unhook your stock tach? Mines jumping all over the place. :bang:

BTW - I bought the tach mount from the guy in Canada.... very nice looking mount! :D

Funny enough my stock tach started doing the same thing. Irratically jumping and what not or not moving at all or whatever.. I determined that MY tach problem wasn't the wires or the harness connecting to the back of the instrument cluster it was somewhere in the cluster itself. But it's only the tach.
So I bought my aftermarket tach and used a wiring schematic in my Haynes Manual and wired my tach up tapping the signal wire, power wire, dimmer wire, and ground wire on the wiring harness behind the instrument cluster.. works like a charm.
I left my stock tach hooked up of course.. it doesn't work for anything. But I rarely look at it anymore.

I may go that route too. I 've heard that it doesn't always work to tap in to the cluster as it splits the signal strength and make be too weak to power the aftermarket tach?

I determined mine is mechanical in the dash by a more exact science than checking the wires and harness. When it sticks I tap on the face and it jumps around even more.
