Any power from K&N filters?

So I did the K&N filter + air silencer removal mod for my car and I'm wondering it did anything as far as power gains. I know MM&FF gained 4.5whp just from a silencer delete, so it got me wondering. a K&N air filter might net you 2~3hp

i bought a K&N because it's already paid for itself, not for performance

A few years back one of our members started a heated debate.
He showed a brand new regular a/f beating a new K&N by 3-4rwhp.
Members bashed the guy so bad, he stopped posting his finds. I forget who that was.
I currently use a regular paper a/f with the silencer removed.

If I had a choice, I would just drop a K&N filter in and call it a day.

I got one, i can feel difference because i bought the car stock down to the paper filter, when i slapped the unit on, it breathed better up top. Some people will argue and say dont get one, but i think it works great. Just clean your maf, every once in a blue moon because the oil gets on the metal prongs sticking into the unit.

Yeah that's exactly what I did. I just wanted to know if it made any difference.

K&N will only help more as you add further mods as well , if you install a bigger TB , plenum and exhaust and then did a before and after dyno of a K&N drop in , I am sure you would see a much larger gain than a bone stock car as well .....

My car already came with a Brute Force CAI when I bought it, I would of thrown in a K&N filter if it just had the stock intake but the owner either still has it, unless he sold it or gave it away. Like said though, gains will be greater if you add more mods that are a good combination to benefit your K&N.

My GT came with the stock/factory intake and air box, but the previous owner already installed a conical K&N and removed the silencer, so all i did was recharge it with the K&N recharger kit, and called it a day.

I've always put K&Ns in all my rides anyway, just for the heck of it

Yeah i figure it can't hurt to have a K&N... And it lasts forever as opposed to having to buy new Purolator regular paper air filters when they get dirty, so you're ultimately saving money in the long term... Just clean the K&N, and you're good to go.

And maybe it's just me, but i've always felt a slight improvement between a paper air filter and K&N.

There is defiantly a slight improvement with the K&N. It feels like it pulls a tiny bit harder

Hate me all you want but the reason why the K&N's flow better is because they don't filter as well as the paper. So you're getting better unrestricted flow while letting junk into your motor and getting your idle control and MAF dirty with oil.

Dry flow filter does.

What is with this fascination people have with the oil you spray on your K@N. Your not spraying an entire can of that crap on your filter. I've never had any problem with my IAC, MAF, or anything.

I will never put a K&N on anything that I own. You guys can let all that junk into your motor. It doesn't do its job and thats filter the air and I have a problem with that. I would be more worried about what goes in the motor then how much power comes out.

AEM has quite possiably the nicest filter out there. Dry filtering down to 1 micron.
