Great cuz people were knocking the SPEC I on Mustangworld & a few on here tried to tell me not to mess w/ the SPEC II but it's kevlar so I figured it'll be alright. Dan did you use the Throw-Out Bearing that came w/ the kit & long have you had it all installed?

I installed it like a week before i left on my 6 month deployment last august, so only got to drive it for a few days. It felt GREAT to me. clutch pressure is near the same as stock, but clamping power rules ass! Yes I used the throwout bearing supplied. Make sure you lube the crap out of it with some white lithium grease. I can't stand Mustangworld to tell you the truth. Much better tech info on stangnet!!

Does anybody else have anything, good or bad, to say about the SPEC II clutch?

Spec clutches are pretty decent. The problem I hear about is on their ceramic clutches. They shudder if you don't accelerate right and you HAVE to wear them in or they will break. That is what I was told from a rep at Spec. The ceramic are great though because once they are worn in they can take a beating. I got a stage 3 kit, but with a stage 2 plate. The peddal feel is same as stock, but it grabs a lot harder. I have had it in for about 2-3 months, but no problems yet.

I had issues with my first SPEC II clutch, it chattered terribly from day one and never got better. When I had my car apart this summer I sent it back to them for inspection. They claimed that the flywheel was not resurfaced properly, they fixed me up and even put new clutch material on the disc (something got damaged during shipping). They charged me nothing and were real nice to deal with. I put everything back in the car and....the chatter is still there. Not as bad as before, but still there and still annoying. I give up on it, I am just going to drive it the way it is. I will never buy another SPEC clutch. On the flip side, my buddy put the same clutch in his '96 GT and his is perfect. Like these guys have said, it is hit or miss. I personally wouldn't take the gamble. Best of luck.

That was my reply to a previous thread regarding SPEC clutches, check out this thread: info about SPEC clutches

I'm reading the thread now. Well I've taken the gamble & hope I don't have issues. Yours is actually the 1st bad SPEC 2 clutch story I've heard out of about 25. So I'm hoping odds are @ least decent. What are you planning on replacing it w/?
