any rwhp gained from going stock AOD to a T-5?

well the Swap is on its way and I was wondering if theres any possible way I could gain some RWHP with this swap.

I cant imagine a full second faster like ppl claim, not talking **** or anything But this AOD car feels like an animal.

Ive beaten a 5spdLX with more mods then me throttlebody, mass air (not alot when its going to stock manifold) and a 1996 Impala SS with a LT4 kit and I raped that car, Beat both cars by around 3-5 cars

and Im a AOD car with mods in sig only difference between me and other AOD ppl is I manually shift my first 3 gears I know alot of ppl who just put it in drive.

App. 15% drivetrain loss with a 5spd...and about 18-20% from an auto...so you do the math on the power you got...with those percentages...

If the 5spd indeed had more mods than you w/gears...you beat the driver because you basically have to push the gas while he has to know how to feather the clutch and know where to shift and shift fast...he wasn't driving "up to par"...Impala's are heavy...

Yes you will gain more power from going from an AOD to a T-5...

You really don't gain any HP but use more of what you have.. But you will should see a about a second quicker times. Years ago we did a buddies 91LX and he dropped close to a full second of his time with nothing more than the AOD to T-5 swap..

Lets not forget, you're getting shorter gear spacing between gears 1-4 with the T-5 versus 1-3 with an AOD. That'll account for better acceleration too.

I'll bet that the new 5-speed automatic in the 2005 GT's aren't that far off from the times with the 5-speeds.

You'll gain no engine hp, but some of the power that get converted to heat in the slipping converter of the auto will instead make it through to the rear wheels. How much? Depends on how efficient your particular tranny was. Most folks estimate driveline losses with a manual tranny at 15-18%; 20-28% with an auto -- but it depends a lot on what kind of shape the auto was in, and what type of converter it had in it (stall speed, lock up or not). As others said - with a basically stock motor, I'd guess you'll see 10-20 more HP at the rear wheels.

oh that sounds good to me, very good, I assure you that the guy I raced is not a bad driver, the LT4 impala with supporting mods and 3.73's I can guarantee you is no slug a LT4kit car is around 340-380 to the wheels properly tuned and I kept up with him in my basically stock AOD car, with just bumped timing drop in filter and gears.

Everybody says my car Is a freak and that I will gain second and a half 25-30rwhp and I was just making sure

Well if he really does have more mods than you and is a properly driven 5spd (at ya'll's current power)...the 5spd should win...no doubt...
