any way to do away with abs

With the way our cars stop and more power added to the car, I really don't think the weight of the ABS unit makes that much difference (prolly 15 lbs.). With the 347 in my car, it still has a hard time stopping in a hurry with drilled/slotted rotors and good pads. When I bought the car though, my ABS unit wasn't working, so I went and bought a used one just to get rid of the pesky light, :)

It really didn't make that much of a difference to my driving though because I grew up driving without ABS (yeah I'm old compared to most of ya) and knew how to handle quick stops in inclimate conditions. For the younger generation (like my kids), they learned to drive with ABS and could get themselves into a situation they don't want to be in real quick.

I'm sure there is a way though to just run a straight through connection on the brake lines where they come into and out of the ABS unit.

ABS is for sissys!!!!
No, not really, but i deleted mine due to the fact that I have a 3" intercooler and the lines were a lot easier to run than trying to keep that big ol' thing down there.
Just go to a good auto store and buy the lines as you need them, or run all new. Either way, you're just eliminating that big ol' box down there. Make sure you follow all your lines the right way though!!!

I removed mine while my car was apart, along with the power steereing, air bags, and related wiring. I am sure you can disconnect everything, but I pulled out a chiltons manual and removed all associated control modules, sensors and wiring from under the dash and in the engine bay then had to make a couple of brake lines. It is very simple, just take your time.
