I am building a 9" setup for my 66 fastback and am using my 8" 28 spline axles. The problem is I have already purchased my wheels and found out the PO changed rearend at some point but used a later/longer 8" setup. I need the axles out of an 8" that when assemble measures 57 1/4 outside axle flange to axle flange. the one I have measure 59 1/4. I only need the axles as I'm chopping and shortening the 9" housing that I have. they will also need to be the early ford small bearing style. Thanks:flag:

There are other axles besides a Mustang rear that would fit. Older Fairlane and Falcon 8"s should fit. A junkyard near you with old cars might be a good source. There are probably other rears that would have the same axle too.

Yes they should if they came from the early mustang housing with small bearings. The 28 spline axle can be used on a 9" 28 spline carrier. I am using my 8" housing ends on a 9" housing to save a little money. I have to shorten the housing anyway and this way I can use my backing plate and drum off the 8" then later bolt on a rear disc setup

Forgot to say they early mustang housing was 2" shorter overall 57 1/4. In 67 they went to 59 1/4 which will cause my wheels to rub even after rolling the fender due to some lowering I did.
