Anybody here own a 90'ish Bronco?

I've been looking at trucks recently and I've taken an interest in the late 80's, early 90's Broncos. It has everything I want, but the question is, what is your opinion on them? I'm going to be looking at some this weekend, they have the 5.0 in it I think. Are they fuel injected, everything like ours? What kinds of things should I look for when buying one.

Also, I tend to haul stuff around alot for projects and helping poeple move. How deep is the bed area, what can I fit in there? Could I fit a king size bed in it with the tailgate down? Would it be something I could pull a small trailer with?

Ahh, Arizona, the land of rust free vehicles.

The 87-96 Bronco's are all fuel injected. They are a speed density, bank fire EFI setup. Only the '96 California emissions package Bronco was a mass-air sequential EFI setup.

They're pretty good at hauling things, and you almost get the same bed space as a shortbed F-150 if you take out the back seat (it's real easy, just a latch and 2 pins).

Pulling a trailer shouldn't be a problem. It's basically an extra-short wheelbase F-150.

Now for the things to look out for bit. As you can see in the rear view pictures in this thread, there is rust at the bottom of the tailgate. This is pretty common because water tends to collect in the bottom and if there's any salt in the air or roads that get's kicked up it can happen.

Another place to check is the drip edge above the doors. At the very back edge where the cab ends and the cap starts, they have a tendency to pull out from the sheetmetal because the u-channel is so stiff compared to the rest of the body that can flex.

If I can think of any more concerns about Bronco's I'll post them.

and I'm going to call him tonight to go take a look at it. It has the interior color I like. The body and paint is factory stock and is apparently in really good shape except for some minor oxidation on the hood. He's the 2nd owner and he says he's only used the 4wd a couple times, so I hope that doesn't cause any problems.

If the bed room can accomodate about as much as a pickup, I'm definitely getting a Bronco The more I look into them, the more I want one. They seem to have an aftermarket at least as huge or more than the stang's.

It looks like the bank approved my loan request and I checked the insurance which will be cheap, so I'm going to buy the first good one I find then start tearing apart the stang

My brothers 90 bronco had a 351W in it, and it was a blast to drive. It had the turn radius of a VW bug and sounded awesome. Only bad part was it got 12mpg.....but what do you do.

It was fuel injected, but I don't know what kind. I remember replacing the ECT sensor on it when it took a dump.

my dad just sold his 94 bronco he owned since brand new....what n amazing truck man lemme tell you...he pulled a 3600 lb chevelle on a 16ft trailer with ease!!! his was an eddie bauer edition with the 351W......i HIGHLY recommend this truck because its an all around great truck to have, and its amazing in the snow as well

EDIT: i guess u dont have to worry about snow in AZ

I took a look at it today and drove it around. The truck is really nice, the interior is close to perfect and the motor is in good shape and the tranny worked great

The guy said he would take 4k for it, so I was about to make the offer. I had the loan with "stipulated approval" setup at the bank so I went their to give them the vin, make, model and year. Then they said they don't do auto loans for anything older than 1997!!? Shouldn't that have been the first thing they told me when I applied for the loan I'm pretty pissed about it, but now I need to figure out where to get an auto loan so I can keep looking for one. But now I'm stuck on finding one of these before I work on the car.

Hmm, the loan thing sounds pretty crappy. A friend of mine bought a 1994 mock Impalla by taking out a personal loan. I'm not really sure how much they differ from an auto loan.

Oh yeah, another thing you may want to look for is the headlight switch and harness connector. If you check this thread the same thing happened to my '94 GT as my '91 Bronco (same harness section too). So if you buy a Bronco in that year range, I'd check it out.

Lemme know how it works out for you with the '90.

Here is my other ford. Its an 89' Bronco 4x4(manual Hubs and xfer case!) With a 5.0. It had 99,000 miles when i bought it for only $500, and i LOVE it. Plus many of the engine tricks for teh 5.0 work for it as it has the same block.

Its a really fun truck to drive, Super comfortable, and climbs pretty good offroad. i would DEFINATLY reccomend one.
