Progress Thread Cobra II Resurrection

If anyone is in need of a center section for a rear spoiler, send me a PM. I no longer need this one. It also has a broken stud repaired and a couple of others beefed up with epoxy.
This piece is trashed up in a way it would fit my car with some black paint... and I like the looks with just center section. looks much like german Ford Capri MK3

The repaired center section is headed to a good home. I have another used OEM center section that is in very good condition that I have fitted to the car.

I spent the last couple of days removing the factory sound deadener from the floor. Back around 1984ish I paid an upholstery guy in Georgia to replace the carpet and he used a nail gun with small 1/2" long nails to hold the carpet down. There are a couple dozen nail holes I have to weld up and some of the old sound deadener needed to be removed first. It was pretty cracked and not very thick anyway, so I decided to remove it all. I'll replace it with some new sound/thermal mat that is 0.200" thick. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6JKF9SC/?coliid=I211G405VWFD09&colid=3O1LXEITGWLFE&th=1 My weapons of choice for removing the sound deadener are an oscillating tool with a scraper blade and a 5-in1 paint scraper. I took out the plugs in each side of the back floor and swept all the scrapings into a 5 gallon bucket placed under the holes on each side as I worked. There's a little more left to remove behind the pedals, then I can start welding up the nail holes.

Side note: I wish my floor pans looked that good!

Nailing in carpet, that's a new one straight out the back woods. Why oh why would it needed fastened down by anything and if so, why not glue?
My thoughts exactly. I think the carpet was off a roll and he just gathered it in the corners and shot a nail through it. Who needs molded carpet when you can just pin it in place with nails?

I welded up the last hole in the floor pan. It turned out to be a grinder cut. When I looked underneath, the bracket for the emergency brake had a corner cut off and the cable was not being held by the bracket. So today I had to fabricate a missing corner on the bracket. My guess is that the exhaust shop cut the bracket somehow removing the old exhaust, but not sure why he would be cutting in that area. Got it repaired and will trial fit tomorrow to make sure it works.
