Anybody here Switch to T-56 Setup in their 94-95's

I was told by several people that I would have the neutral rattle when I did the swap, fortunately I don't hear it. Could be I just can't hear it over the exhaust. :D

Evidently it's normal.

I just got off the phone with D and D Performance and they say it is completely normal. They suggested to go to a GM dealer and see what fluid they use for their Vipers. The fluid they use seems to quiet it down some. So I guess I have to live with it. Love the shifts though and the hard work that went into installing it. It is worth it.

Got this email from another member here:

the VIPER T56 was 2995 for the complete kit. tranny, bellhousing, cross
member, driveshaft, everything. then you have to buy a different clutch
disc
to work with the fine spline shaft. I had about 3300 all together
including
the pro 5.0 shifter instead of the stock one that comes with it. I did
all
the labor myself and instead of bolting the new cross member in i
welded it.
much easier and sturdier.. I bought mine for D&D performance..

Which T56 did you put in? The Viper-spec or the Ford-spec T56....knowing that will decide which fluid goes in.

Ford Spec 10 Spline ... it says on the cap of the tranny to use only Dextron 3. But I called D and D Performance where this came from and he said to go to GM to see what they are putting in the T-56. I think I read somewhere that GM uses something like "DuraMesh" I may have that wrong though, but my tranny reads clearly to use only Dextron 3.

Justin, that's the same fluid I ran in my T56 and had great luck with it. I wouldn't run anything else personally.

As for that email...he welded in the crossmember....WHY? Guess he doesn't even plan on changing a clutch disc again. The crossmember needs to be bolted in......I really hope he means that he welded the crossmember relocation brackets instead of the actual crossmember b/c that would be funny if he did.

Thanks Troy, I will stick with the Dextron 3 I can handle the noise it's not that big of deal anyhow. I agree I would not weld in the cross member either. I have heard of another person doing that as well. Boggles my mind. What do you do when you need to remove it or to conduct maintenance and it is in the way. To each his own I guess?
