Anyone done PI swap from Jegs?

So now that I am wanting to do the PI swap more than ever, I was looking through the Jegs catalog I got in the mail today.

They offer both PI heads, intake and head changing kit for

Heads - 344.99 x 2 = 689.98
Intake - = 189.99
Head changing kit = 115.99
------
Total 995.96

Does anyone know if this comes with everything I need?? I already have the new NPI "fixed" intake with the aluminum crossover to switch to the new PI intake to take care of the 2nd water temp sensor issue. Anything else I will need?

I am on my 4th can of "liquid courage" and am ready to order and get the project started!!!

well i dont know what it install kit consists of but you should probably get that if it has head gaskets and all.

but dont buy those heads. i know they are new but man that is alot of cash. i can hook you up for half the price/10,000 miles.

if not mine, used heads can be had cheaper. i also assume you will need to get the intake but could probably find that used too.

go to parkway performance for a complete swap kit.

ah, i agree to disagree. parkway is an EXTREMELY complete and good kit, all new components ect. but that is why it cost so much also.

I have looked at every possible kit before I did my swap, and almost bought a parkway kit, until I seen how much heads go for on e-bay, complete. granted, they are USED not NEW. IF you find a good used set, you can get this swap done for less than $800.00 and not have anything to worry about.

I paid $180.00 for a PAIR of PI heads from ebay, they were removed from a low mileage GT because the guy upgraded his heads to patriot heads. they cam with cams and valve covers. I had them checked, decked and new seals installed for $120.00. so the heads cost $300.00 for a PAIR that I now know were good.

the head install kit was $100.00 from Joe Cooper ford in Oklahoma City.
the intake was aftermarket, bought the Dorman one from a local parts store for $280.00 with the aluminum crossover.

the misc stuff, heater tube, nipple, studs, ect, i got from Ford, less than $50.00

rest was fluids and misc stuff. all in all, probably around an $800.00 swap, and no worries as I had the heads professionally checked.

You can do it a lot cheaper with used parts, but you have to be real CAREFUL on ebay, some of those guys claim crown vic and F150 PI heads+cams are the same as mustang. a PI head is a PI head, but the cams ARE different, Mustang has the biggest cam, the Pickups and cv's are smaller, don't be fooled here. You really need to snag a set from a Mustang to make this work cheap.

also forgot, the parkway kit allows you to re-use your existing valve covers. if you buy a used set of heads from ebay you might have to get valve covers to match. there are two versions of the PI heads, Romeo and Windsor. Windsor's usually came off of pickups and '99 to '00 stangs. Romeo's came on the CV's and Mustang from '01-'04.

your '96 to '98 motor is a Romeo, so in order not to have to buy valve covers you need a set of Romeo's. Also, if you use windsor heads like I did, there are some other small differences to overcome, although nothing big at all, mainly timing cover stud size, that's about it, you can get the right bolts from ford really cheap.

What are you disagreeing about?
The guy asked where he could find a complete PI swap kit....not where can i piece together various used parts...we are all proud you found good deals and saved money. I did the same on my PI swap...but thats not what he asked so.....

Yup, totally agree. I buy a lot of stuff off ebay, but it's usually small, crappy things. When I'm taking my time to drop in an intake, heads, cams, etc, I want a complete kit that is OEM new - that's why I'm ordering my parkway kit this morning.

Worst thing would be running down to Ford / Auto-Zone / etc every 30 minutes to pick up a small little part...
