Anyone else fearing snow?

So they are saying there is a "chance" of snow. It will definitely be cold, due to a cold front coming from canada, but the low pressure ridge from the south will bring snow, and at this point its not likely, but probable.

My worst problem right now, the only running vehicle I have is the white fox. If it snows, I'm totally screwed, even with chains.

Anyone else in this unique position? man, I have got to get that 4x4 running again!!

I'm ready for the snow this year But no worries it more than likely wont snow. My last 4wd I had out here it didnt snow all year so I sold it and got a mustang Gt then it snowed Then bought my cobra and it snowed even harder and longer the next year..lol. So now that i've got a 4wd truck again it probably wont snow and everyone should be ok

yeah, I just dropped a new motor in my chev, it usually does pretty good in the snow. I just havent had time to go out and finish adjusting the carb, valves, timing, etc. I think I may come out and do that now. My stang is not nearly as powerful as your cobra was, but it has 4.10s, posi of course, and its a pain in the ass just in the wet pavement. I'm not a fan of the tires either. So I'm sure in the snow or ice I'll just be sliding around till I hit something.

thisyear was the first time I had a 4wd to drive! bought an 87 blazer with a blown motor and put a new motor in her... took me awhile but it was worth it when we had that little bit of snow on my birthday in december I drove my gt the past 3 years through the snow and ice that we've had and done fine, hell I drove my brothers 95 home for him when it snowed, it aint all that bad... just gotta know how to do it

Ya I grew up in chicago so learned how to drive in the snow with my girl friends pinto station wagan lol... But driving my Cobra home from the down town portland area over the bridges in heavy snow, watching a 4 wd truck nosed into the guard rail on the bridge stuck trying to back out and I went by lets just say drifting style pedaling the gas but I made it home to beaverton without incident was very challenging especialy with at the time 450 rwh and 480 rwt it was a lot different than that pinto

SNOW???

They are saying SNOW at the coast, and I'm dang tired of having to put the cover back on mine. At least I still have studs on the daily driver. We haven't been able to win for losing this year here. Had to pull the cover for the wind storms, and it was clean when I did it...well it wasn't clean after that happened. I guess the good thing is there won't be County cops on my rear-end trying to catch me speeding...like tonight. They just don't have a sense of humor but I'm LMAO at them.

Like I said a long as I have my truck it probably wont ever snow again..lol and as far as the police having a sense of humor that isnt gonna happen, they never thought the licence plate on my Cobra was very funny

As long as you know how to drive in the snow, it doesn't matter what car you drive. I have driven in snow for the past 8 years that I have had a license to drive and had no problems transitioning from a FWD car to a RWD Mustang. You just have to remember to take it slow and be careful on the initial acceleration. The little snow scare we had in the Portland area recently where we had ice and a little snow didn't bother. The only fear I had were the people that have no experience in it hitting me, such as the big ass Tri-Met bus in the next lane rounding a corner going too fast even with chains.

I know I could jump in the seat of a 500+HP Terminator and tackle the snow with no problems. You just need to know how to control the power that the car has and take a little extra care

I'm not worried about it too much, I've driven my 89 in the snow and ice, back in the storms of 96, for days, and it was modded much more than the one I have now. I've just never had 4.10s and crappy tires in the slick. This particular car I think is going to be a pain.

I dont doubt my own driving abilities, but that doesn't mean I'm excited to test them. And I dont care what anyone says, hills are a nightmare in these cars! Up or down, you are in for some fun.

So far, in 12 years of driving, no wrecks in the snow in or ice. I'll knock on wood. One of the benefits of doing a lot of burnouts/donuts and such over the years is you learn how to control a car that has no rear traction really well. Steering into the slide is nothing new for us mustang guys!

I still want to get the truck running. It sticks the ground pretty nice, and I usually dont even lock it into 4wd.

It's supposed to snow up here on Friday. This city shuts down completely if there's even enough snow to stick. It only snows up here every couple of years, and the way I understand it, it's cheaper to shut Seattle down for those days than it is to maintain snow-clearing equipment. You read that right. No snowplows, no sanders, nothing. And with all these damn hills (Seattle is built on seven big-ass hills), every yuppie moron in an Eddie Bauer Edition AWD anything thinks he's suddenly in a Volvo commercial and decides to brave the elements. 400' of elevation + ten percent grade + snow - chains = a pile of expensive cars at the bottom of every street.

Me, I'll stay home and go sledding.

I think its more like meteorites, not gravel.My poor Cobra got nailed by a few and it sounded like friendly fire.

Heheh I drove 50 miles round-trip to work yesterday in the middle of a blizzard that left 30in of snow and there was no problem. You people dont know what's like having a nice sunny day on saturday and then when you wake up in the morning on sunday there's 2 feet of snow that you need to dig out in 40 mile winds just to open your car door. And no, there's no need for studded tires, just be careful.

1st pic was in the appartment when they started plowing, 2nd was at work after an hour of being parked!

I wish Portland would try that. Down here it snows a quarter of an inch and ODOT carpet bombs every single road with gravel (not sand), and then they do not even bother to come by later and sweep it back up like they used to. So we spend the next couple months getting the crap beat out of our paint, wheels, and windshields.

I agree completely. Nothing like hearing the rat at tat driving down the road a month after "snow" (which is usually 1-2").

At least we dont salt the roads in Oregon. Thats the only thing to be thankful. Ever seen an "east coast car"? Most of them are trashed after 10 years.

hehe yea... back in 01 when I was a senior and it snowed, they cancelled school, first thing I did was hop in my 66 chevelle 4speed and take off, that thing was so much fun to drive in the snow lol, put it in 2nd gear and throttle through just about anything! btw 1inch sheet of ice + gravel + long & steep driveway with nowhere to gain speed at the bottom = stang sleeping at bottom of driveway View attachment 487364
