Anyone else not liking short gears with their 5.0??

So did it actually go faster leaving it in 3rd and over revving it out the back door than it did when you shifted 4th or did you simply bump it off the rev limiter before you made the line?

I know I have/had that issue with my car. I was bumping almost 7500 out the back door in 3rd on our 1/8 mile track, but the car actually made more MPH and ET'd better than it did when I shifted 4th. Not to mention it was one less shift to throw off the constancy in my ET's :nice:

Didn't help to go to 4th. I was having slippery clutch syndrome and once I fixed that I had T-5 meets Spec III disease and then when I got that fixed the piston rings decided they would retire. A taller tire would have made the difference I was looking for.

The thing about gears is that you have to give to get. Often I know people who try to build an all out drag car and they hardly ever go to the track.

I have 3.08 factory and they are a much better then 2.73.I've had 2 foxes w/4.10 and one with 3.55,all three N/A and 3.55's are perfect for a street car.4.10 is just to much and has no traction.
