what cars come with 3.08's from the factory? I'm determined to trade someone rear ends so I don't have to buy the gears and than have them installed
SN-95 Cobras had 3.27 from 96-98 and the 03/04 had 3.55, IDK what the 99/01s hadthat would be perfect!! what about SN-95 cobras?
and how do I know it does in fact have the 3.08 rear end? I wouldn't want to swap the rears and get screwed lol..
I know that the Foxes had that option as well, just don't know the specific years. I want to say it was something strange.
What are you driving now? I must have missed it.i have 3.73's to. i cant launch it in first to save my life. or get traction in 2nd at all. unless i just leave off idle which is boring ha. dont help there are 205's on the back right now lol. im glad pay day is tomm get 4 new tires for it ha.

If i was serious about drag racing the car i wouldn't mind the 3.73's....but the fact is the car is more of a cruiser. When it's a nice sunny afternoon, i take if for a spin after work. I prob get on it maybe once or twice in a 1 hour cruise, so i think a lower gear ratio is right up my alley.
I've been trying to give it a chance but more and more i'm leaning to not liking the 3.73's. Just too short between shifts. I plan on adding HP soon, so more reason to step down a bit.

Door tag or axle tag.
On the door you'll see a single letter under AX. I beleive M is 2.73 and Z is 3.27
On the rear itself there is a metal tag and you'll either see 2L73 or 3L27 on it

Part of the problem is that gears are a choice kind of like cams, just less complicated. The engine, trans, and weight of the car do play a role, but what the purpose of the car is also very important.
Some might go to the track every blue moon, might get into a little red light action, and like to kick it every once in a while but the other 99% of the time they are either traveling or on the highway. Anything higher than 3.55 will probally be a bit much for them. Some of us might do some cruising and regular driving but the main purpose of the car is for getting on it, for us anything lower than 3.73 is not steep enough. Some of us are just trying to get track times, and then we should be just above peak HP as we cross the finish line.
My problem with 3.73's in my old car was that I was over RPM in 3rd gear as I crossed the 1/8th mark, going to 4th didn't help. I have that same 3.73 rear end in this car and now that I am learning how to do gears myself, I will switch out to 4.30+ with a 28" tall tire, when I get to that bridge. Right now my car is too heavy and the trans/engine is too stock.
