Anyone else shuttle their dogs around in their GT?

My GT is my dog shuttle and it gets trashed.

My car is the designated “dogmobile” (no way around it in my house) we take our dogs hiking in it or to the beach almost every weekend in it. I put down a hammock like rear seat pet cover in the back. It protects pretty well as long as I vacuum the sand and dirt off it afterward..it’s still covered in Dalmatian hair though. Our 60lb Dalmatian and 20lb Bichon seem to do fine in it.
I’ve given up on the fact that the GT is going to this always clean car though unless I’m spending all my time cleaning it…which I’m just not into. Sometimes I think I should have kept my Sonata since I didn’t care much about it being the dog trashed car but I love driving the Mustang much more even if we are driving places with the pups. I hope not the only one that’s got stinky dogs in his GT a lot.

I'm a neat freak so I don't let my dog in my car. I don't even let people eat in my car. I bought a 94 jeep this past year and that's what I use for the dogs.

My 75 pound German Shepherd rides in the minivan. The only people ever in my stang are my wife and my 2 brothers. I would ***** a brick if my dog jumped in the Stang LOL!

Dog Facts; Labs shed twice ther weight in a years time. I think Dalmations are are brothers to Labs.
I bought a truck this year for my son so now I dont have to take the dogs to the vet in my car.

Lucky you guys!

Well I can't really buy another vehicle since I already have 2 motorcycles and don't see myself selling one right now. So it's either keep the Mustang GT with my current rear seat cover and shuttling the dogs every weekend or sell it and get something I don't mind trashing. I think I'd rather keep the Stang.

Lol thats nuts. I tell my gf If shes got high heels or Dirty shoes to take em off before sitting in the passenger seat of my vehicle. I wouldnt be able to live with myself having my dog in there lol

P.S. Is that a Maltese? Pretty cute dog same with the dalmation.

I'm not sure how I'd even get my dog into the back of my car (65 pound Husky). I take her around in my girlfriends Explorer. But if I absolutely had to I'd cram her n the Mustang. I care a lot about my car and like it clean, but Molly is a part of my family, so if she needs to get to the doctor or something and there's no other car around, Mustang it is...

get a sidecar or a little pull trailer for one of the motorcycles we have three yorkies and they only get to ride in the 08 santa fe never in the bullitt hell my wife is lucky i let her in there. any one elses wife or gf always putting that damn hand moisturizer on thier hands in the winter had to tell my wife to leave it off her hands or stay out of the car fingerprints and hand cream slime on door handles

No, Bichon Frise but close Well I'd have to buy a cheap beater since all I have is the Stang and her G35 and she's not willing to haul the dogs in that car.

I don't currently have any dogs so no worries here. Why isn't she willing to take the dogs in her car once and a while so you can have a clean car if only for a week or two? I guess i'm lucky, my gf loves my Mustang and will haul anything in her new Civic so my car will stay nice.

Posted via Mobile Devicebecause we were using my sonata as the dog car. I commute a lot on my mcycles..so sonata was there for that and her G35 is relatively new and her commuter. Now the mustang replaces the sonata so it is the new dog hauler. I guess bc I have 2 nice bikes and now a mustang and she having her one nice car, that I'm being too spoiled. I do clean the crap out of the mustang afterward.

I have a beagle and a toy min pin and the little dog weights 4 pounds and falls asleep in my lap almost all the time and for the beagle I lay the back seats down so she can't scratch the leather up with her paws...the don't ride in eithe rof the mustangs often though.

Dogs

I have an '85 GT hatchback. This is what I haul lumber, sand, mulch, topsoil and pets around in. It's my 'lil truck. Neither my cats (we have 4) nor my dog (we used to have 2, now only 1) have ever seen the inside of my GT 'vert - and that's the way it stays.

I would love to have a dog when I retire and forgot to consider what would happen to my interior if I drove around with him in my car. Ideally, I'd have a retriever/lab mix and wouldn't hesitate to have him ride with me. It's thrilling to dogs. Do dogs need seat belts? (I'm serious) I thought I'd put a towel down on the passenger seat, make him stay, and buckle him in. Is there something you can add to the seat belt to secure the dog? A second vehicle is not an option since parking is scarce enough in the City.

Off topic, but I have a sorta small place so I also have to worry about him jumping around, knocking things off tables with his tail and scratching my speaker grills (home theater).

However, they do give uncondtional love and things are meant to be used and enjoyed.

for the RARE occasion I lay a blanket down for my 75lb Pit Bull, he rides great in the back seat but he rests his heard on teh arm rest between teh seats and drools on it, so i just make teh wife wipe it down with armorall every rest stop lol!!

No, they don't really need seatbelts but if you're really anal, there are dog seats that hold them strapped in. I doubt a lab will be calm enough to stay strapped in to a seat. I would think that work maybe for little dogs. A passenger seat cover and a rear seat cover hammock style like what I have would protect your car a lot from the dog scratching/dirtying it up. If you have a small place, a lab (especially younger) can knock stuff over with his tail and go nuts. If you walk the Lab a lot that will help. But they need a lot of exercise. I assume when you're retired, you'll have lots of time to spend with him.

Actually my rear seat cover/hammock style thing that I got from the pet store is working out really well. I took the dalmation and the bichon to the dog beach yesterday and practically all the dirt/sand is sitting on the cover when we get home and they exit. A few minutes with my cordless Shark vac and it's all gone. The rear seats underneath look stay unscathed as do the rear carpets. Just laying a blanket down doesn't offer near the protection since this hammock thing stays in place.

My English Bulldog has never been in either Mustangs. And never will be for that matter. All she'd do is scratch up the leather... But she is adorable, and loves to go for rides in the Explorer.

my dogs dont ride with me , but some how (my interior is black) there FUR is all over my floor mats and seats ! Im a neat freak and it drives me freaking nuts ! We a have a 1 yr old husky and a 2 year old PUG.
