I was wondering what happens to the cars that are returned to Ford under the Lemon Laws. I have seen a car locally available at deep discount that is a lemon buy back and was wondering if anyone here ever bought one and what kind of experience they had.

The dealer told me it still had a full warranty and the defect had been repaired. The repair carried a special 1-year unlimited mileage warranty from Ford, so it seems like a good deal if it is actually fixed.

Someone bought the car that evening, but it got me to thinking about this. Is there a listing on the web someplace you could go to find these cars? Since it wouldn't be a daily driver I thought it might be worth looking into. I know the title would be branded a lemon, but I expect to keep it for a while so re-sell value isn't an issue.

Thanks for your thoughts.

i don't think the title is branded anything, even if it is a lemon. i went thru this whole "lemon" oredeal with a Chevy years ago, after 4 months of mediation and letters back and forth, there was nothing Chevy had to do except try one more time to repair the vehicle according the lawyers we were dealing with that work the "lemon" cases here. as for buying one, if the discount is enough, and it has special warranty coverage just for that item, i would do it. one person's opinion of a lemon, may not be another's. a new owner might not let the issue bother them enough to worry about it...

if you do purchase a lemon, it will be tougher for you to sell if you ever decide to. the "lemon" attachment follows the car for eternity.

I would agree. A lemon is a lemon is a lemon.

Your thread got me started on this

Hey Poop, Your thread got me thinking about this in the first place, as my wife now wants her own GT and a new one is our of our price range right now.

I was considering asking you which dealer took it in and contacting them once you made the deal. I'm sorry to hear you are not getting satisfaction from Ford on this. I don't expect you to take the size of financial hit I would expect from Ford on a car like this.

While we were shopping I saw a Focus on a lot that was a lemon buyback, and it was priced near 50% of retail and had additional warranties covering the repairs noted, which really got me thinking about this. I was amazed to see the car sell so fast. We looked at it on a Saturday morning, it wasn't on the lot when I was there Friday, and the salesman told me "it would sell by sunset", and it did.

My thread here was in hopes of getting direction/advice from someone who had actually bought a lemon and learn what they went through if they needed additional work done on it. I'm surprised no on here actually has, with the skills people here have, I'd think someone would take a flyer on one. I have not found a 'stang Lemon for sale anywhere, so I'm just spinning my wheels on this for now.
