Is there anyone out there ever gutted the cats on their stock hpipe? I have one off a 2000 GT and was wondering if I could bust the cats and get better performance and sound. I had a buddy that busted the cats on a 97 F150 and it sounded like it was rattling when you got on the gas. If the stangs go that I'm not going to do it. I thought about doing just the front ones first and see how it sounds then maybe doing the back ones later. Will probably be pretty loud with 2 chamber flows.

dont gut the stock ones, it will be easier and cheaper in the long run to get a O/R h or x pipe. plus if your state ever adopts strict emissions testing, like in CA, you will need your stock pipe. the only legal midpipe in CA is the stock one.

I did it and though it sounded like crap. I already had an aftermarket exhaust and the combination of that and gutted cats increased the noise of the drone ten fold. Spring for an O/R H/X-pipe or at the very least weld some strait though pipe in place of the cats.

if you really want to do it get yourself a piece of rebar like they use in foundations. a little bending will make it the perfect piece. get it down the pipe to the cats and strike it with a mallet a bunch of times. then just pick up the h pipe and tap in on the ground to get the chunks out. I wouldn't know anything about doing this............only saw my buddy do it!!
