Anyone ever have ther 2.3 Turbo pull hard to 4000 then stop pulling hard?

I thought I read somewhere before that many people have had this problem with the 2.3T, that it pulls hard to 4000 RPM then it accellerates almost like a naturally aspirated car, slower. Here is what I have checked so far, fuel pressure is perfect (39 with no vacuum hose) and rises smoothly with boost, timing 10 btdc and it does advance with spout in, New TFI, New Distributor, New Cap/Rotor, New MSD spark plug wires, New NGK TR5 plugs gapped to .030, Boost is at 15 psi. What is the next step? Thanks!

My svo has, I had the knock sensor plugged up and with bad gas it pulls alot of timing out (when it detects knocking), thus slowing it down and making it feel like a 88hp pos 4cyl.

go to turboford.org there are a lot of people that had that problem. to tell you the truth there are a lot of things that can cause that problem. exhaust leaks, timing, check the archives and make a list and check all of them

Have you checked your vam to turbo hose to see if it's got the internal spring in it still? If not, it's collapsing.

Wow, I never thought of that, so the 88 turbo coupe has a wire spring in that rubber tube that connects the turbo snout to the VAM? I pulled a couple off at PickNPull but none had the spring, I'll try using a XR4TI rubber tube because it is about half the length.

I gave up on the VAM hosea and made one out of thin 3" aluminum. I had 3 collapse and one the spring unraveled out into the VAM...luckily not the turbo.
