I do not ever have that problem...

Seriously though, how many miles on the car, the fluid, and the clutch?

If you're at a stop you should put it in 5th anyway before you put it in reverse.. that slows all the crap down that's spinning in there or synchronizes something or other.. I do it out of habit now.. never had probs since I started doing that.

When I do that, it refuses to go in at all. I have to throw it n 1st, then reverse.

Happens all the time in the 01 (with the T-45...and half the time it pops out while trying to backup). NEVER happens with the 02, TR-3650.

WHAT??...... no, dont do that. u should not be moving when going into reverse. maybe move forward a tad, then stop, then put in reverse. that used to help in my 00 GT. i suggest going into 5th then reverse.

Pull the car forward in 3rd gear then stop. Then it will go in reverse.

Yup. T-45 problem. I never had mine pop out once in though. I usually shift into 5th then reverse or 3rd, 5th reverse when it gets like that.

Note: One SN member here had started his Mustang in the winter to warm it in his driveway. A thief got into the car and attempted to back it out of the driveway and take off. The SN member ran outside and had time to kick through the driver side window and punch the thief all because the T-45 would go into reverse for him. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
True story.

iirc, the 3650 has a reverse synchro, but the t-45 (and t-5) do not.

Usually happens to me too...

Its usually when I first turn on the car... if I left off clutch I have to put it in first then back into reverse. If it doesnt work I try other gears to see if it goes in. Sometimes when I have the e-brake up it wont go in as well.
