anyone familiar with this clutch? valeo king cobra.

Been trying to choose a clutch. Heard good things about valeo. Saw this on ebay and thought it sounded pretty good. My big thing is wanting a light clutch pedal. anyone have experience with it?

No experience with that actual clutch but Valeo does make a good clutch
That said and I have been reading about your, what is it Knee?
If you get too light a clutch pressure plate the clutch will slip
Good luck with the leg or knee and I do not like slush boxes for racing around either

I have the old King Cobra clutch kit from 20 years ago and that was in fact made by Valeo. The Valeo brand was all over it alongside the Ford markings.

Valeo is a good brand, but my concern with that auction is if they are genuine Valeo parts. I just hopped on Rockauto (usually the cheapest source of parts) and the cheapest Valeo clutch kit is $180. The cheapest Valeo flywheel is $97. That would be $277 for the both of them together.

That link is for a clutch AND flywheel for $180. That makes me wonder if they are genuine.

Agreed. There is a high risk of counterfeit parts these days.

Found that out the hard way with some Calloway golf clubs
Those Chinese sp2p's (I think) were still good clubs
Now everything is China made and regardless of source or price you may get screwed
I look for NOS parts on ebay and I have some Ford parts for sale myself. It's fun / therapeutic

Have run these Valeo king cobras for years with never an issue, used to get them from Anderson Ford. Same here as I wanted a lighter clutch feel. Latest one is still holding up to the abuse of my 347 with no issues.
As mentioned, I think they were a Ford OEM supplier.

It would have been nice if he would have shown the differences and what to look for specifically between the counterfeit and quality parts.

I had the King Cobra clutch. It was not a light pedal. The best clutch I have used lately is the basic stock replacement from Orielly's. It holds well and feels like stock 100%. It is probably made by Valeo as well

I had the King Cobra 25yrs ago and loved,but agree with above it wasn't a light pedal. My McLeod clutch rated for 550hp feels like stock.

My pedal is pretty light. I have an old KC from the kit that claimed a 10% reduction in stock.

Always felt like a stock clutch to me....granted it's been 10+ years since i've driven a stock clutch Fox

Nothing like that. I just want a normal or close to feeling pedal. I don't want a slush box, I for sure want it to feel sporty, I just don't want to limp every time I drive it. My last fox had a crazy clutch from the PO and it was awful.

Any suggestions for a clutch then? It's going in a stock car.

I might be the minority here, but my ram powergrip (the non hd version) has a really nice pedal feel, as long as you us a new cable. I drive it all the time in traffic and it’s great IMO.

I bought a stock replacement clutch kit from Autozone based on the advice of some of the members here and it's the best feeling clutch in any foxbody I've evern driven. Granted I did replace the clutch cable and all the parts in the bell housing as well as installing a hardened input shaft bearing retainer. But it feels great. Smooth and light. I love it.

I would probably order a McLeod MCL-75005 about 229.00

I was going to mention AZ for a lifetime clutch myself
Damn things are like the salt on your meal
If you drive like I do you'll need 6 clutches in 6 weeks

It is an AutoZone brand, came as a kit, I didn't use the supplied pilot or throw out bearings. I used Ford OEM bearings when I did all the work last year. Yes, lifetime warranty clutch and pressure plate. I'm really happy with it so far, my engine is stock.

Always replace all 4 parts of a clutch
I feel for those of you who have quadrants to repair or replace on top of the clutch
That is a main issue with pedal effort on those cars IMO
I mentioned slush box to get the automatic boys going
