I just talked to magnaflow and they said that you can use the #14416 rounds in place of the magnapacks, but they will be loud. This was for an 01 Cobra that is.

How long have you had the flows? When I first put on my catback, I thought it was too quite (especially after having side exhaust), but they get louder after you break them in.

I hope to do something like that side exhaust on ebay when I add my roush body kit. I figured instead of the expensive roush exhaust, why not go cheaper and have my own made with the potential to be louder. I don't know about magaflows, but i have heard them on a GT and they sound killer.

I agree if you want loud, crackly, and simply badass sounding... go with the slp loudmouth.

I have magnaflows and an OR/X pipe and it is plenty loud in my opinion. The drone on the interstate borders on annoying but it sounds good when I get on it.

They probably didn't sell enough of the magnapacks. they are basically just glass packs anyway.

I've vouched for Spintechs ProStreets all up and down this forum. IMO, here's how it breaks down as far as mucsle car all around sound and loudness, not just loudness:

Magnaflows =
SLP =
Flows 40s =
Flows 1 chamber
Spintech ProStreets = :worship:

I had magnaflows welded in

I had magnaflows welded in before I got my MAC. There were two reasons I switched to the MAC:

1) The Magnaflows were quieter than the stock mufflers when cruising. I drive an auto, so I can't really control at what RPM's I cruise. I think if I would have gotten a stick, I would probably have kept the magnaflows on.

2) I decided I wanted 2.5" mandrel-bent pipe instead of the stock pipes. I wanted the car to breathe a little better.

To be honest, if I had to do it all over again, I would have left the magnaflows on and put a mustang tuning catted x-pipe on instead. I really like my MAC exhaust, so don't get me wrong about that. But, the magnaflows have a really unique sound that none of the others seem to have. They have a really good purr-like sports car sound. I agree, it's not very muscle car sounding, as in blatty or crackly, or really deep. It's just a really nice-sounding purr. They do get loud if you step on them, and if I'm not mistaken I think they tend to rate up there pretty high as far as how well they let the exhaust flow and HP gains, especially on a fairly stock car.

Magnaflows are great, but like you're saying, not loud. I think if you got an X pipe, they'd sound GREAT. You'd probably get all the loud you'd need plus the purr. That's what I'd think anyway.

I dont really like magnaflows and X-pipes all that much more of a muscle car sound kind of guy thats why I got the flows and O/R H-pipe, but if you put a Bassani O/R X-pipe and pair that with Magnaflow catback it sounds ****ing mean. Its not really deep it just sounds like its gonna rip you a new one.

I'm not sure what drone some of you guys are talking about, but I love my Magnaflows. I even set my cruise control at 2,000 rpms (76 mph with the stock 3.27s) and there is no drone.

I've heard almost every exhaust combo there is. Prochamber is way to quiet especailly paired with magnaflows. You obviously have never heard the Bassani O/R X-pipe with magnaflows that is probably the most aggressive sounding exhaust I have ever heard on a mustang.

My car came with magnaflow mufflers. They're not loud enough, so i'll probably do either just resonators or 1-chamber flows. The exhaust is going to have to be redesigned anyways since i'm putting on a v6 rear bumper.
