Anyone have a Bullit Suspension Kit on a Convertible??

Just wondering. I just threw a set of 03 Cobras on my 96 Convertible and I really need to drop this thing. I don't want to drop it a whole lot just enough to get rid of the 4x4 stance.

I'm sure you can get away with it, but generally the verts should have slightly different spring rates due to the diff weight balance. The bullitt is not a great package though - doesnt drop far enough, cheapy non-adjustable shocks.

Dont get me wrong it'd be better than stock, but why not get some vert specific springs and KYB AGX (cheap but sweet). It'd be lower, have the correct spring rate balance for the vert, and adjustable too.

Well I guess if you dont want much drop they'd be fine.

I don't have the Bullitt suspension kit on my convertible, but I do have a BOMB @$$ suspension kit right now though

I was thinking about doing the exact same thing to my vert but I know the rear rates are lower then the coupe's and I don't want to mess up the ride too much.. but it deffinatly needs to be dropped by about an 1"

I kinda of cheated for the moment by putting a bigger set of boots on 255/50/17 looks better and grip is improved but not ideal.

Looks like the spring rates for the vert are this applies to 79-04 V8 stangs

Front (LB./ IN.) 500/570
Rear (LB. / IN.) 170/310

Coupe
Front (LB./ IN.) 460/570
Rear (LB. / IN.) 170/310

I stand corrected i thought the rears were softer but I guess not,, doh!!

i have the Bullit suspension on my convertable. big improvement from stock. it's a great kit for the price. yes you can get better kits for more $$$. if you are looking for a modest drop (looks like it should from the factory, not slammed.) and a noticible improvement in braking and handling, it's for you.

Did the kit improve body roll and twist in bends?
I am talking about normal freeway on-ramp type of bends, you know the ones that beg to be hit a little faster then the 40mph stated!

I have an 03 Vert and have been wondering the same thing.
The FRPP catalog actually has the spring rates for various upgrades and the vert is definitely different than coupes.

AFAIK, only Ebtech offers a different kit for verts, although I have read that they sag after a while.

If you really want to get rid of the wobble in a vert, get full length subframes and a strut tower brace.
My friend has them in his 02 and it makes a huge difference in cowl shake and the wobble factor that verts have.

That being said, I am looking at the Bullit kit myself along with the subs and brace.
I'm not into the super lowered look because IMHO it looks too rice.
Of course the stock look is like an Outback so take your pick

Personally, my car tracks perfectly, my steering wheel is straight, my tire wear is even and I intend to keep it like that.

The Bullit kit seems to allow me to stay stock but improve things a bit without the added headache of alignments, caster/camber plates etc.

AFAIK, only Ebtech offers a different kit for verts

H&R does aswell.

I thought all verts already had full length sub frame connectors

I do agree that it looks a bit rice when smacked right down and I also intend on keeping my wheels running evenly.

It would be good to see a pic of a lowered vert with this Bulit set-up though?

body roll is reduced quite a bit. there is very little nose dive too. i remember the stock suspension was horrible for nose dive. i've taken curves at twice the posted speed limit on several occaisions. the Bullit suspension was the 2nd most noticable mod i did to the car besides the blower. it's firm, but not harsh. and it allows me to get over curbs and railroad crossings without scrapping.

It looks waay better than stock, and that pic just pretty much narrowed it down from a kyb/steeda setup to the Bullitt setup.

Im not looking for my car to sit on its nuts, but for it to look better with small wheelgap and slightly better handling...

BTW is that car an actual LE 35th?

yes it is a real LE 35th.

a friend of mine has the steeda kit on his 02 GT coupe. it's harsh when compared to the Bullit suspension. if you want better ride quality, go with the Bullit, if you want to sacrifice more ride quality for better handling, go with the Steeda. both are much better than stock as far as handling, it's just a personal preference of which you want more. handling or ride quality.

i think i am goiing to go with the Bullit suspension. It seems like what i am looking for. Better handling not a huge drop and cost effective.

I would really love to run a H&R Supersports and tokico setup. Because the Supersports give verts a wicked stance but I hate scraping.
My Audi is dropped pretty serious and I scrape all the time here.
So the Bullitt it is.

i just put eibachs on my 02 vert and i think it rides better than stock. and looks great. lowered it about an inch maybe a little lower. i paid 175 for them brand new at the englishtown nj swap meet last week.

what shocks and struts are you running and did you need C/C Plates?

yes i used maximum motorsports caster camber plates on factory struts and shocks
