Anyone have a McLeod "Dual Performance" clutch?

I still need to purchase a clutch to go with my new Tremec 600 set-up. I've pretty much decided not to use the Spec stg 3, as I had originally planned. I'm still considering a CF dual friction. , but I'm really thinking about this McLeod clutch from www.Astroperformance.com According to Tony, it will handle 500hp, can be shifted up to 6800rpm, and will have a light pedal (same as a King Cobra). It should also be good on the street, and not too grabby. So my question is does anyone have one, and how do you like it? I'm a little concerned it won't hold up, since I'm not too far from 500hp right now.

Never heard of a dual performance clutch..I had their dual friction one, worked nice.

Probably the same one then. On McLeods site they refer to the Performance disc as: "Dual Perf. , Kevlar/Organic"

I knew those World Class T-5's were a ripoff.


Thats what the T-5z stands for right?

TKO600 with .82 o/d > all.

In all fairness my T5 lasted quite a while behind a couple different motors with nitrous and blowers. Sadly it's only rated for 330 ft lbs of torque, and I was putting more like 500 through it, with a grabby Spec clutch. Then it went "bang." Can't wait to get the Tremec in there

I use the mcleod dual friction disk with a promotion powertrain modified/blueprinted FMS HD pressure plate. Its rated to handle a lot of power and high rpm's. Its NOT a stock fms hd pressure plate. Pedal pressure is pretty good. I'm sure the pressure plate astro performance is selling you is the one i have. I doubt its a stock fms hd press plate.

I'm not sure you should go with the Centerforce DF if you were considering it as an option. I've had mine just over a year and it has given me problems ever since I put it in. Everything is adjusted right but once the temp gets below 40* its slipping like crazy. I think I might try the Ram 6 puck next time.

I had a 6 puck in my Evo VIII and it SUCKS royally for anything but pure track driving. It's terrible on the street.

Mr. Potato Head, did it chatter? Hard pedal? I had a friend who used a centerforce DF pressure plate with a 6 puck and he loved it. I've personally never tried one.

I've got a McLeod street/strip single disk clutch in my 351W car. It takes 2nd gear burnouts all day and runs 1.56 60' times no problem. Ran 11.93@116 at a 2200 ft track. The car completely destroyed a King Cobra in 12 passes. I've been running this clutch for three years and would highly recommend it for a 500 HP street driven car. Since it's a street type single disk sprung hub clutch it doesn't chatter or feel grabby, and pedal effort is about the same as the King Cobra - maybe even a little lighter.

Extreme chatter. Going slow or making U-turns or traffic, etc would be unbearable. The pedal pressure wasn't bad at all really. Of course, we are talking about a different car but I would think the basic physics still apply.
