ok here is my deal, i took my t5 last year for a rebuild. the rebuild went fine, then i slowly started getting a leak, started out as a few drops then it progressed into a puddle everytime the car was parked. i took it out and it looked o be from were the tailhousing bolts to the case. i took it to the guy who rebuilt it and he reasealed the tailhousing.

i threw it back in and it stilled leaked the same as before. i took it out AGAIN and the guy said this time he was going to reseal the top also.

i got it back and pressure checked it, plugged all the holes and shot compressed air into it, it pressureized and came out the vent like it should but i couldnt find any leaks at all using soapy water around the mating areas.

put it back in thurs. and it didnt leat at all the first few times i drove it, took it home that night didnt leak at all, then the next morning it leaked a drop or two. the drops were under the tailhousing/case area where they meet and the other was by the rear seal by the DS. the leak is MUCH BETTER than before.

took it to work that morning. it leaked a little more. then took it home. didnt leak t all at home

took it to town to get some parts sorted out in the garage, didnt leak there.

took it back home later, leaked a few drops.

then was in town later on, didnt leak there.

then i parked the car at my dads garage overnight, came back this morning and it didnt leak a drop

im currently at my gfs house and it doesnt seem to be leaking at all.

i am guessing the guy who rebuilt it may have cracked something like the case.

or it wants to come out of the vent for some reason under acceleration, doesnt make much sene that it would. i leak checked the silicone areas and found nothing. so i have no idea. havent been under the car just yet to see where its coming from exactly later on i will check the o-ring for the speedo cable thingymabob.

just seeing if anyone had any expierences like this.

how does the rear seal on the tailhousing? most of the time they will start leaking and run down to where the case and tailhousing met.Are you sure that u don't have to much fluid in it? will cause them to blow back out the vent.

the real seal was replaced when it was rebuilt, it sure didnt look bad last time i looked at it. i have yet to get under the car, i tried to get a good look at it on my driveway. i could see the tailhousing/case meeting place and it was dry, so far i am guesing the speedo o-ring thing or the real seal, in fact it may be the rear seal.

when i pulled the t5 out both times i put a red plug on the end and when i had it on it sort of held the rubber in the seal at a strange for a while when i took it out last time to installed the tranny the seal was wavy, it may not be sealing, so far its leaked the worst at work, when i parked there it was on a decent incline with the end of the t5 pointing downwards that may explain it.

the level is correct, i had the fill plug out when i filled it, BUT the car wasnt very level so it may have gotten a little too much, it poured out shotly before i finished the 3rd bottle, close to 2.8 quarts it calls for.
