I am shopping for new mufflers. I am considering Hooker Aero Chambers or Hooker Max Flow. Has anyone tries these mufflers? How did they sound? My 1988 GT Mustang is basically stock with no cats.

i've never heard them on a stang but I knew a guy with a 95 z28 and it sounded very good. He had no cat and just the muffler. U no that the cat back does not come with mufflers right? Mufflers are sep. U are better off just getting the muffs and use existing tails or buy new tails

I run the MAXFlows. I like them.
They are very quiet at idle and cruise, but crazy loud at WOT.
At idle they have a deep resonance that can only be heard outside.
The one thing I had to get used to is they have a rasp around 4000 rpm's. But it gets better as the mufflers break in.

Yeah, I'm juist gonna get mufflers and new tails. I'm hoping the mefflers will sound really deep and loud at WOT. I want them to be quiet at idle and fairly quiet at cruise. How bad is the rasp situation?

Dad got the Hooker Max Flows, and they are QUIET. I mean scary quiet on his car. He had Mac Flowpaths on it, and it wasnt anything really loud, but with the Hookers it is amazingly quiet. We checked and these are straights through, but quiet as can be. They have only been on for a bit so maybe they need to break in, but I would say they are in the same sound level as the Dynomax Super Turboes!
