Anyone have wiring diagrams for ignition system?

I am installing a tach in my 93 LX and I do not know which wire off the coil is the positive one. I thought I could use a test light to figure it out, but they are both hot when the engine is running and they are both cold when the car is off and in acc.

Headed to the track this Saturday, need my new Ford Racing tach to work right. Help!!

The red wire is hot and green wire is negative

Am I looking in the right place cause my wires are brown with a green stripe and orange with a red stripe. This is the connector that connects to the coil.

9 times out of 10 in the electrical world. Green is our ground, Red is your hot. Use a 12 volt tester to be sure.

If I'm not mistaken the hot wire should red w/ a green stripe and I think the green wire has a red stripe. The factory wire harness has two green wires that come together. One is for the coil and the other is for the factory tach.

If you unplug the coil it's usually marked right where the connector plugs in -- that way you can be sure (wire colors sometimes change over the years).

OMG I sure hope it's not labled on the dang connector. Boy I'd feel like a dummy.

The Tan/Yellow wire is the feed for the tach on a 93 5.0. The other coil wire is Red with Light Green. If yours are different, then someone's made a swap into there. What's your VIN?
