My buddy just bought a 96' N/A 2.0 Eclipse...
Being the nice friend that i am, i attemped to help him get it running correctly.
It idles and runs ok, but when you give it some throttle it misses and backfires out the intake......

We replaced all the plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, Both 02' sensors.....
However we DO get a code for a TPS sensor, and we replaced it with a junkyard one and it does the same thing.....A new sensor is $70 and he has NO money right now......

Anyone work on these cars and maby have an idea? Probably not, but just throwing it out there.

had the same problem with my uncles 95 Talon( same car), and it had a bad EGR vacuum modulator, and for some reason it was popping and backfiring too, specially during accelleration/ heavy loads. I went a long way with the car, i reaplced the t/b, waterpump, complete tune up and everyhing in between, new cat etc.. but only replacing that piece helped.. goodluck
I think Mitsu's are good cars (specially turbo ones), but as with every car, they have their issues.
