+1 to free stuff sticky. I for one know I have some extra stuff lying around and dont like the hassle of strangers walking in/near my garage full of mustang parts

For a long time, we had a free stuff thread going in 94-95 that was staff approved. I think it was like the "Cleaning out the garage" thread, or some appropriately named topic to that effect.

I started that thread because I cleaned out my garage. I gave away my waffle wheels with bald tires, MM&FF magazines, 3" tailpipes and E7 heads. I had Stangnet member show up and browse through my garage Things I was ready to toss found a new home.

However there is a classified section already. I browse it frequently. It's only a click away. I think you guys could handle it. It's already been approved. Let's try it, if it doesn't work we do away with it. Easy as that.

Oh, you stickied the thread for yourself when it was convenient for you to clear some space in your own garage, but we can't benefit from the same exposure? That's pretty selfish. Myself and a few other guys on here have expressed interest in clearing out some space ourselves, and other members will benefit from it as well. You know how it goes, "one man's trash is another man's treasure." Just ask lxnotch92 as his new FREE head gasket will be on the way to his house next week.

Really? That's how you interpreted what he said?

Here's a novel idea... How about just thanking VibrantRedGT for making the request to staff on your behalf and pressing on with the decision even though you don't necessarily agree with it. The job of administering a board of this size is not as arbitrary as you might think it is.

Here's the deal... We have a VERY active classifieds section. You can go to the category of Mustang you like and list stuff as free, or sale or whatever you like. The bottom line is there will be no commerce threads in the technical or talk forums. Not everyone wants to weed through a ton of, "for sale" or "free to good home" threads to get to the meat of whatever it they're looking for.

So instead, we have a designated section for JUST THAT. Use it or don't.

... and by the way. You're welcome to list your give-away items in your signature. You can even post links to your classifieds sale items in your sig.

It's really a shame stangnet has come to what it is now, I have been a member here for atleast ten years albeit what my avatar says. I have been temp. Banned ,perm banned you name it. I can remember being in highschool sneaking to a computer just to log on and check out the threads, rush hime from school fire up the computer and dialup and hop on the forums. That's all I wanted to do, sadly more and more members started dropping off , new people showed up and a new clique was born. Mods were ban happy and always deleting, moving and altering threads. It's sad that when asked for a single sticky to give things for free away to fellow mustang fanatics and be put into one of the 3 truly active areas, it gets shutdown and sent to die in a dead thread, classifieds. It used to be 5.0 talk was the place to be, now I come on here and the first page has the same Damn threads for days with hardly any activity. There's no life here. What happened? Everytime someone new came and asked a question they were scolded use the search. Well that became the killer, who wants to read a 6 year old thread about a problem your having, godforbid you post in that thread and revive it, because your scolded again for bringing up and old thread........

+1 The ungrateful attitude and sense of entitlement displayed by some of the member in this thread baffles me.

No one is asking for 200 For Sale threads littering the talk and tech boards. I (we) requested that a single thread be stickied as a single, common, and readily noticeable place for the 5.0 Talk crowd to post up parts that are free to a good home. I even proposed using the honor system to have the actual shipping costs covered by the recipient. Explain to me where the harm in that lies? The 5.0 Talk section is more tightly knit than any other section on this board, and as such, a request like this is justified in my eyes and clearly justified in the eyes of the majority of my peers. A single stickied thread at the top of a page required a braintrust of moderators and a majority vote to get approved? I've spent six years on this site and earned my venom and right to be heard as much as anyone else, and I feel your decision is bull, in no uncertain terms.

The real bottomline is that you guys feel the need to flex your internet muscles in a nonsensical manner by keeping an issue (any arbitrary issue) under your thumb for no real quantifiable reason. With all due respect, in case you haven't noticed, you are not the Secretary of State nor the head of the CIA. You're a website moderator. The requirement for your job on here is having a pulse and access to the internet. In 2012, that's not saying much of anything. I've spoken my piece and I'm done here.

Well I was trying to help. I thought a FREEBIE section was a great idea.

For the record I did not make a sticky for my own personal benefit back then. I wasn't on staff then and the thread got locked anyway. I didn't complain about it.

Yep... we all sit behind a gilded curtain and try to think up ways to screw with folks. Why? Because we have nothing better to. Why, it was just yesterday that we were all hanging out in the staff forum saying to ourselves, "What random thing can we come up with that will REALLY cause SN members to gripe and complain so that we all sit back and have a good belly laugh over it".

I guess now, the gig is up. Everyone is on to us.

Read the TOS. It's been in place since before you were a member here.

P.S. Secretary of State or CIA??? Think bigger. I have VERY huge E-shoes to fill because everyone knows that the only reason I came here is to flex my e-muscles.

Tech is for tech / Talk is for talk / Classifieds are for your classifieds

Call your local news paper and see if they're good with posting your free ads in the middle of the front page.
