anyone painted the cowl cover thing?

like it says above, getting ready to get my car painted, and i wanted to know if anyone has done this, and how it will stay on. thanks

Yes I have 2. I have one in black and one in colorshift and it makes a great difference. Also paint your wiper arms for a clean look.

When I do mine, I will sand it with 1000 grit, then primer, then paint. I don't want to have to do it again. I am doing all of my vert trim because it's all faded.

I broke off my drivers side mirror, so I decided to experiment with paint colors on the broken mirror. Semi-gloss black came out great! The regular glossy black didn't match the color of my car at all. And I like the semi-gloss better anyway. If you want it to match, you will need to get your pain code on the b-pillar, and get some that matches. I think you can order some from Pep Boys if I am not mistaken.

Mines painted too, looks great. The little antenna base is also a nice thing to paint, smooths out everything.

It might just be me but... I think on the brighter colored cars (red, yellow, white) that thoes pieces painted to match the car wouldnt look that great. It might just be because I'm so used to seeing it always black so I dunno. I think a nice new shot of black with clear on thoes parts would look very nice on a birght colored car.

Yup good idea on the sanding, I did mine that way with a gloss black and it came out nice. My trim was all nasty gray and powerdy looking before.

Yep the only thing holding it down are snap clips. You have to fold/bend it at the corner to work it out fron the pillar first.

Do you paint your own car? You sure paint alot. I thought I was a painting maniac but now I am going to be forced to remove all my vert trim and wiper cowl and paint it since yours looks super nice (prolly the mirrors too). I would like to see a shot of a painted cowl. I guess I just never thought of painting those.

No the body was the only thing I didn't paint. I started to learn afterwards cuz my body shop didn't have time to paint everything I wanted until later and I am impatient.
Here are 2 of the cowl and they are both almost the same.

Paint your wiper arms and top of your blades black or whatever also makes a nice clean look.

I was about to agree with you 100%, but then I changed my mind. I think it really depends on your situation.

If your paint still looks brand spankin' new, then painting all the trim with the same exact paint would be really sweet! But if your paint is slightly faded or has 1 million swirl marks, then the trim will look 5x better than the rest of the car, making it stand out.

On 94SC50's car you could paint them COMPETITION ORANGE, and they still wouldn't stand out!
