Hey guys!

Im pickin up a C4 tomorrow, gonna drop it in my 94.. since she will be the dedicated race car from now on.

I would like to drop the C4 in the car as it is and have a little fun, but im gonna have to tear it down first. She came out of a bronco I believe... and has about 180k...

So...

I dont have any tranny experience, but I do believe I can tackle the C4.

Any hints or tip that will help me?

What is the most best upgrade INTERNALLY for the tranny, other than a V/B and TQ converter?

Also, how do I make a C4 work with the 94? If you cant answer this, its ok... I guess a chip can make it work.

Thanks a lot guys.

I appreciate all help.

BTW, the tranny will be put into my 94 5.0, which will have 500hp, and will go no more than 800hp next year.

I bought a video before I did mine. The company that makes them is Technical Videos I believe. JC Whitney used to have them in their catalogs also I believe. It's not complicated work. You just have to keep everything very organized since their are so many pieces. The video was like 30 dollars I believe and it was well worth it. You don't need any special tools to do a C4 either. They do talk in the video about using a special spring compressor to get the snap ring out of one of the drums. I just used a couple of C-clamps and it worked fine. I would definately do it myself and use the money you saved on labor for better hard parts.

As far as what mods to do I don't know a whole lot. I put in a mild converter, shift kit, and a deep sump alluminum pan in mine. Nothing fancy. You probably will need to do more with a high HP drag car. Good luck with it.

Yea definantly...

I took it apart today, and the problem is, I cant get the main drum out.

I took the 4 inner bolts off the housing, and she wont budge.

Just gotta tinker with it more I guess...

She didnt have many parts at all, seemed very straight forward, I just dont know what to do with the servos... if in fact I DO have to take them out to get the internal drum out??!?!

youl need a 164 tooth bell housing. if your doing long tubes you might want to get a 157 tooth flex plate that has the right balance and the corresponding bell housing. this gives you a little more room. if its an auto already then you already have a 164 tooth flexplate.
