Picked this up yesterday on an impulse. Should shoot it in the next week or so.

Pros

Crisp trigger
Rmr cut from factory
Threaded barrel
Flared maxwell
A Ton of extras in the box

Cons.
No adapter plate included for a trijicon rmr.

ETA: canik tp9 combat elite.

Never heard of it.

It looks like a composite lower with an aluminum upper.

Does the cap come off to reveal threads?

I've heard nothing but good things about them, but haven't fired one myself yet. I'm supposed to try my friend's Canik 9mm next time we go to the range.

So far my first impression is that it's a churched up glock. About like buying a g19 and then installing aftermarket parts on it.

Yeah, it's a lot easier to do when the rails are built right in.

Durden bought one recently, he really likes it. I haven't shot it or messed with it any. I have a new toy from the CZ custom line, Accushadow, that's got my attention at the moment.

Yeah, I've had a Canik Rival for several months and have 1k or 2k through her. REALLY like the gun! It's pretty much the "easy" button for shooting. Here's what I like:

Pros
  • Gun is accurate and reliable. I've had zero failures that were the gun's fault. Had a few FTF due to crap ammo. And when I say "accurate", I mean much better than average. It shoots REALLY good.
  • The trigger is probably my favorite of everything I have overall for a reasonable and carryable gun. I love the big, flat trigger. It breaks VERY clean, and the reset is almost not there . . . except you can CLEARLY feel it. This trigger is something from a $2k customized gun.
  • The gun comes with tons of gear. It's got a carry rig (right handed unfortunately for me), mag funnel, grips, etc.
  • The price was crazy. I think it was something like $670. The guy at the range handed me his, I shot it about 50 rounds, and handed it back to him and told him I'd save up for that jewel. He told me the price, and I handed him the money. I was expecting $1,500 minimum.
  • I met the guy who owns Canik. He's a gun fanatic and wanted to talk guns as long as I would. He really DOES love to shoot, and he builds guns for shooters. I like that. Still touch base with him from time to time.
  • The sites are great, period. I have no plans to replace or augment them.

Cons
  • It uses Canik magazines. The gun would just be THAT MUCH BETTER if it used Glock or CZ mags . . . but not Sig or S&W . . . I don't have any mags for them.
If something awful happened, and I lost everything . . . and I got the insurance check back to replace everything, getting another Rival would be right after replacing my Glock 27 (which is actually barreled for .357 Sig . . . and I would do that again).

I hope that works for you!
