You should spray your current longblock. I would love to see how long it holds up.

well see i know the thing with our pistons in our 302s are that they really dont like to much nitrous...guys may say its fine and what not, but if you want your Daily Driver to still be your DD i would not go over a 75 shot. You can ask gcomfx...when he first started spraying his 125 shot is numbers were pretty high (319) and over i believe 2 years it went down in hp (275) showing some wear on the engine(correct me if I am wrong)...I plan on running a 75 shot on my car and my brothers friend (who is a real big fox body guy) said that he wouldnt recommend spraying at all unless i was forged. Im not to sure about the GT40 block and if they are forged but that is just some of the info i have gathered.

i dont have any numbers, but with explorer intake, iron gt 40's, stock cam, 2.73 gears, and 150 shot i had a 12.91 @ 110.68 with a crappy 2.1 sixty foot. i went through 9 bottles on my motor before i took it off. its not the pistons you have to worry about (unless something goes wrong), the weak part is the rings.

Yeah sorry i meant to say piston rings not pistons....the piston can hold up to around 400-500hp i have read and some people run higher then that on stock bottom end but not to long before it blows (im not really thinking straight...too many final papers i have been writing tonight)

I also thought you would run a hell of a lot faster then a 12.91 on a 150 shot...gcomfx with a similar combo as mine but in a coupe ran a 12.7 i believe on the 125 shot.

he also had gears, dr's, which equal a much much better 60 foot.

hence why he was 2 tenths faster.

but, my car made more power. that is shown in my mph. i had 3 mph more than him with a much crappier short time (my car literally fell on its face when i launched). also, have you ever driven a car with 2.73 gears? if i had gears and tires i am confident my car would have gone a second quicker.

Oh i know all about them 2.73 gears...had them up until 3 or 4 months ago...yeah i noticed the mph...i was just wondering since im still unsure what i want to do with my car as you can see in my sig...im also thinking of just putting the nitrous on and just doing some things for looks(springs, wheels) and maybe some sub frame connectors...i just dont know if it is worth it to do all these mods to and aode vert...the car i really want is a fox body t-top.

LOL notch t-topped here... or another 84/85 fox.... I think just with the swap and supporting mods with the stock intake i should be putting down like 260-275... throw a 75 or 100shot on there for the track and you have a retty quick ride.... you should swap over to a t-5...

i dont see a problem with running a 150 shot on a stock shortblock as long as you have the right supporting mods such as pull timing 2 degrees for every 50hp, colder plugs, 255lph fuel pump, all the nitrous safety stuff(window switch, etc) and a good tune.

explorers dont have forged pistons. they have the same exact block as our cars do stock.

My explorer engine handles 10lbs of boost daily with no problems, and nitrous will be easier on an engine then boost, due to a cooler intake charge...detonation wise.

spray the hell of it i say.

There is an old saying...

"n2o does not blow up motors, those who do not use it properly do". I like to add "or get too agressive with it".

I ran a 125 shot on my stock longblock (and too a stupid point at that but I was prepaired to deal with it). Ran fine, a few buddies have run them on 93+ hyper stuff as well with 0 issues. Hell one buddie has a built B.O.P. 400 in his 80T/A (very very not stock) that has around a 165 shot on CAST pistons . He kinda wants to blow it up though to lighten the rotating mass with a better setup though .

I only ran the bottle one time with the un-ported gt40's and it was against a modded fox...the 125 shot was...DAMN nice and pulled like a train.

Been waiting to get the new setup 100% setup before I spray the 150 on it...then....maybe 175. Should be fun.
