Anyone running a March Ram Air setup?

Just wondering who's got one, and how exactly the air duct runs through the fender and to the bottom of the car? Where is the opening to go from the inner fender to the bottom? I'm going to be doing something kinda similar on mine but i'm going to run the ducts to the nose of the car, just trying to figure out where to run them through the radiator support or through the fenders or what.

I don`t run one,but I`ve read that they are like a vacuum cleaner and pick up all kinds of crap off the road.

on my 85, it has the dual snorkal that runs down the fenders, all i did was extend it to the front, worked great

I have a power pipe. I would just run the dryer hose up into the fender without connecting it to anything.Just so theres more fresh air in the fender. They "do" pick up alot of debri and water.

Imo they are not worth the time or trouble. The plus is, if you can call it a plus, is they only pick up a few, very few hp at that, at high speeds only. The minus is they are totally a vacuum cleaner.

that's why i'm saying to use the stock setup, if his car is a 85, it should have the tubes in the fenders, all he would need is the dual snorkal air cleaner, and to extend the tubes, and bam, he has a cheap ram air that would do all the same as what he'd buy..

what if you hit a bird or something and it cut all air to the intake and the car died.....do you know how much ****ing around you and the shop would end up doing to figure out that there was a dead bird or whatever in your ram air.....just a thought I always had about that

Or going through a puddle thats up to your bumber!! Its not an everyday accurance but it does happen.

Im going with them, wouldnt be worth it for when it does rain out, and also suck all the dirt and crap up in the intake

Billison hit it on the head....i'm working with the stock duel snorkel breather setup and i'm going to be running the hoses to the front valance, maybe to the grill opening. I'm full aware of the vacuum problems with dirt and debris but i have a plan to prevent that too

As for the tubes in the fenders, the only thing my car had in the fenders was like a plastic cup without a bottom (if that makes any sense) and the duct under the hood clamped to that plasic cup and got air from the fender wells. Unfortunately those got pulled out when i did my nose swap, but i'm going to work out something else to make that work too...lol.

I was just wondering if anyone had actually installed one to see how they did it, and if i'm going to have to pull the nose off my car to get it through, which i think is going to have to happen.

Is it really worth all that? And how are you gonna prevent debri from geeing in? Install a screen?

Ya know....it's not like this is the first time this idea has come about...one of the meanest Fords ever produced had a similar setup

Besides, if it doesn't work the worst thing i'll have to do is rip it out and put my other breather back on..

Oh we are talking 5.0! I'm just a crazy SOB and i'm gonna make it work! Hell i figure my car came stock with a duel snorkel breather with inner fender ducts, so taking that further down to the nose shouldn't be a big deal. If nothing else i'll end up with a dirty air filter...also my car only sees rain when i get caught in it, and the water would have to travel UP the tube, which i don't think is going to happen even at driving speeds.

I talked to a guy on another forum who did some temperature probe testing with various styles of carburetor breather setups and he said the intake air in the duel snorkel is 20-30 degrees cooler than with an open style breather setup...hell that alone is reason enough for me. Plus i'm going to get some heat shield for the underside of the housing which hopefully will help keep it even cooler.

Here's the breather so far. I'll be polishing the lid today.
