I'm doing the T-5 swap and all I need is the fluid. The tranny I'm putting in has hardened gears, race cut synchros, G-force cluster gear retainer, etc. and I was thinking of going with the Redline MTL but everone says use ATF. Redline's website basically says you can use either, but ATF is a little too slippery and that the MTL will protect the gears better than ATF. What is everyone's opinion about this?

I would run Redline MTF, Royal Purple MTF, or AMSOIL ATF

Per Redline's techline, it was recommended that one use D4 for a T5.

I'd Run the regular factory recomended ATF for the first 5000km (at least 1000km) because all those NEW parts are going to have break in for a while until they are meshing together properly. I would do this because those NEW expensive gears are still going to put some metal (sinking to the bottom of the tranny) as they they wear in. After the break in period is over, drain all the factory fluid and metal, and then use whichever Redline you are supposed to use in it. And that tranny will run like new for a long time

Scones advice is excellent for a new trans (I did not realize it was new).

One could also simply ask G-force what they recommend (initially and after the break in). I wonder if they dont recommend something like Synchromesh (I dont have a G-force so I couldnt tell ya). In general, the opinions run wild on what to run, and I find it often (to me) to not be intuitive. Probably best to ask the folks who build the box.

Good luck.
