what's needed as far as motor mounts etc.? will the motor mounts bolt into the small block frame mounts? i read somewhere that the bolt pattern on the block was different on some fe motors...

You will need different mounts for a big block. Also you'll need stiffer springs to carry the extra weight. I would also recommend replacing all the old suspension components when doing the swap. Going with at least front discs would also be a good idea, you'll need them to stop after nailing the gas for the first time. What big block are you contemplating? FE or 385 series? Transmission will need to be changed too if it's an automatic, if it's a manual 3 or 4 speed Toploader, then you'll need to get a big block bellhousing.

i have a 66 t-bird with a 428 and i'm guessing a fmx? i have been looking at parts and they are really high!cheapest headers i have found are about 350 dollars, and that may have been in an old catalog. from what i have seen in catalogs,i need a plate that bolts to the motor and motor mounts. was wondering if the motor mounts will then bolt to the existing frame mounts(the thing that bolts to the lower shock tower)? the car is a 67 cougar.it may have come with a big block ,but i doubt it.just trying to find out what parts to procure.
