Thanks for the info, if that's the case then I would buy the Porter Cable for $99 and you'll have $50 for pads/materials.

FWIW, and not sure if this is the same instance, but the PC 7464 model (I think it is...) was rebadged as a Meguiars unit for $75 or so more - but it came w/a lifetime warranty. For $50 you might want to check to see if that is still the case w/this buffer.

Yes, I have used the new Meguiar's G110.

I have been shopping around for a new Dual-Action (DA) polisher for several months now. I have used both the G110 and the Porter Cable PC7424. Both are great DA polishers, but I was very impressed with the new handle design of the G110.

The G110 is very similar to the older G100 (made by Porter Cable) - with the obvious difference of the handle design and more power. The new G110 is NOT made by Porter Cable according to the folks I spoke to at Meguiar's. They also told me that it was manufactured in China.

The G110 felt slightly more powerful than the PC7424, but I did not try them in a side-by-side comparison, so that could be a misconception on my part due to the newer handle design. Nevertheless, the G110 is a very powerful unit.

I used both the PC and Meguiar's units with a polishing pad and M80 Speed Glaze. I got excellent results with both. With a polishing pad and Speed Glaze, it's difficult to make a mistake. But obviously, like with any power polisher, you need to know what you're doing - especially if you are using a more aggressive pad and/or compound. After spending a few hours with each, the G110 seemed easier to use because of the adjustable handle and more positions to choose from. It was less stressful on my wrists.

Personally, I really liked the new handle design, but a lot of my friends remove the handles from their DA polishers, so if you do that, I wouldn't see a benefit for you. Both the G110 and the PC7424 fit nicely in the pale of your hand when the handles are removed. As a related note, because of the handle design on the G110, I was able to switch between the handle and pale usage - I could slide my hand under/between the handle whether it was adjust outward or upright.

I have no knowledge of the reliability of either the G110 or the PC7424. I know many PC owners and several Meguiar's owners - none have complained of failures.

Summary: I am biased! Porter Cable is one of my favor manufacturers of corded power tools - their products are great - so you wouldn't make a mistake if you chose the PC7424. On the other hand, the new handle design on the G110 is superior to anything I've used to date. So, I'm leaning towards the G110. But if Porter Cable incorporates the new handle design into the PC7424, I would get the PC.

Hate to bring this back from the dead, but I'm about to buy a g110 and this thread popped up when doing research.

Another consideration is people claim that Megauiar's support is top notch.

I use a PC7424, Lake Country MFG pads and Meguires products; Ultimate compound/SwirlX/NXT Tech wax. Its a great little pollisher.

You can pick up the Porter Cable 7424 on Ebay for $108.00 with a one year warranty and find a pad kit that includes the backing plate and your set for around $200
