Late model bullitt rims like from the bullit mustang?
Or 68 Bullit style rims called torque thrust D style?
If you get the late model wheels which I beleive are 17x8 with 5.75 you will need a 1inch to a 1.25 nch BOLT on spacer.
If you are looking at the torque thrust D style, then you can order them in the correct OD, width, and backspacing. You can also get them in 17 inch versions from a company called vintage wheel works (v45 is the model). These look very much like late model bullitt rims, except they can be ordered in the correct size for the car with the proper backspacing and not require the use of bolt on spacers.
Be sure to check out my tire and wheel chart linked in my sig for 1965-6 model years...you can read down the chart for the size rims you are looking at and then accross for what suspension setups other people are running and you should be able to find a successful combo that matches both what you have now as far as suspension and brakes and what you want as far as wheels and tires.
i just bought a set of the new style bullitt wheels in 17x8 with the correct 0mm offset from summitt for 179 each to fit my 68. i haven't gotten them on the car yet, but they sure look sweet in the boxes
oh yes, as far as tires. a guy i met runs 225/45/17's on the front, 255/40/17's on the rear of his 67, which is what i'm going with also. the fill the wheel wells out perfectly with a 1 inch drop all around. i don't believe those rears will fit on a 65 though, so check with someone else that has tried it before you spend the money on them.
to fit 17" late model wheels to 65-66 mustang you will need 1" bolt on billet wheel spacers. This is assuming that you will run 245/45/17 size tire. The spacers are avail. through mustangs plus.
