I was thinking of buying an aftermarket alarm. I have active anti-theft but the Ford codes are too generic. Ive had to change the codes twice already and anyone thats changed them knows its a pain. I was gonna get the Viper 5000, it has a two way remote. anyone else have an aftermarket alarm out there?

Have a viper 5000 installed.
Full page back.
Dual perimeter
Dual Shock
Glass Break Mic.
Angle (Tow) Sensor
Door Locks / Windows / Trunk can be used on fob.
Starter Kill (bit overkill with chipped keys)
Secondary Battery (hidden)
Hood Lock

Installed 2nd day I had my car. Have had no issues or problems.

Basically went to my local stereo shop, and said give me something that will make it difficult for idiots to wreck or steal my stuff. :nono:

I sleep better with my alarm fob/pager on my night table.

Day to day, and grocery shopping I drive the uber 2002 Dodge SX 2.0 :nice:
Which I leave unlocked, and no car alarm everywhere and has never been touched.

I have a Python alarm in my convertible and love it. It is the model 500 with a dual zone motion sensor added on. For me the important thing was having a proper alarm that would protect the contents of the car with the top down (via zones). I paid somewhere near $400 installed, and have a new key fob to take the place of the Ford one.

Interestingly, Python is manufactured by Directed Electronics who also makes Clifford, and I think Viper too...
