I've posted this problem before but I'm hoping there will be more out there now who might be able to shed some light on this:
1. The car is fitted with Metco billet LCAs torqued to around 80lb/ft
2. The car is also lowered on Roush springs.
3. When I initially fitted them, the LCAs were quiet but after a run they began creaking like a wooden galleon.
4. I tried tightening and loosening. Tightening made a slight difference but the creak came back but I don't want to over-torque.
5. Can't even get a reply off Metco by the way.
6. I decided to pump them full of synthetic grease so they bulged. This made it worse.
7. I don't buy the poly bushings creating noise idea because I had BMR tubular LCAs on my last two Z28s and they were silent.
So the questions that arise:
1. Has anyone had this creaking with Metco or other billet LCAs?
2. I'm thinking of stripping them out and degreasing them and seeing if that quietens them and if so, maybe putting a small amount of grease back in.
3. I don't have extension brackets on so the LCAs point up slightly. Do you think this would make a difference as shipping to the UK is harsh!
4. I'm about ready to junk these LCAs and buy some BMRs so if anyone has recommendations for QUIET LCAs then let's hear them.
5. Finally, I still don't get the theory of LCAs. Is the outer bush meant to be clamped tightly so it doesn't move and the LCA rotate on the bush or is the whole thing supposed to rotate?
